New Qantas promos including double status credits (book by 3/9/25; travel 4/9/25 until 22/8/26)

The change to lifetime SC convinced me to pull the trigger, booked the below for P2 in J (as a multi city) last night

CNS-BNE-SYD
SYD-SIN
SIN-SYD
SYD-BNE-CNS

1000 SC for $5.8k AUD - booked via US Amex Biz Plat for 251k MR after 35% rebate, and she'll get 55k QFF back when flying the itinerary.

We needed the SIN flights anyway and this will get her 200 SC away from P1, and set us up for a couple of weekend trips to CNS.

It's possible to get the fare down to around $4.5k (with slightly less SC) but we had specific dates of travel for SYD-SIN vv which bumped it up.

Silly question: I thought that once you have a PNR, you can only change the dates? So, you can change the routes/routing as well?
Yea…this is my understanding of what a PNR is ..
PNR is basically like an envelope that’s addressed to a passenger. You can put routes and dates into the envelope, you can add/remove/modify the routes and dates that you have already put it to the envelope.

Have just booked via Oman Air for $7.9k in May 26
SYD-BKK on QF (J)
BKK-MCT-LHR on WY (Business Studio A)
FRA-MCT-MNL on WY (Business Flex I)
MNL-BNE on QF (I)

You can end up with long layovers with WY but my fare was 29h out, 32h back which is OK for me

It's a bit of a gamble whether the double SCs on QF will stick given not currently possible to add QF number to booking. However, I can probably get OWS on another programme if not.

However not unhappy with price and get to try an F adjacent product for that.

A word of warning. When you click through, you choose seats on QF in the Business cabin but the landing page says its in the Economy cabin if you don't pair up with the more expensive Business Studio (which you can't from FRA). I was prepared to do the MNL-BNE leg in Y but it has ticketed in I. No idea if there is a 24h cool-off if it fails to do so.

I was priced $6.9k without the studio
We are currently on similar-ish itinerary booked via Oman Air and had no difficulty adding QF# to booking via QFF Manage My Booking well before the flight using QF booking reference (should be visible in full flight itinerary) Unable to add QFF # to Oman bookings so added our AA numbers instead (expected credit has posted).

SYD-MNL on QF completed; QF SC + points posted (therefore DSC would have posted for this leg if relevant)
MNL-MCT-LHR on WY completed; credit posted to AA
MXP-MCT-MNL on WY
MNL-BNE on QF

Hi everyone, if I don't have any plans until early 2026, what's the best way to lock in a PNR now? Is it as simple as purchasing the cheapest Y flex SYD-MEL (via Qantas website) before Wed, convert it to an international multi-city in early 2026 and pay the fare difference? Assuming travel dates are well within August 2026. Thanks :)

The best way is to go to a travel agent

Now that Oman Air is in the frame I will have to look a their SC earn rates vs on EK - could be a better option than EK for my Cairo runs.

Even better when you have a travel agent who knows how to put more then 1 ticket (for the same person) into a single PNR.

No published earn rates for WY on QF yet. Said to be coming late 2025

All the other OW carriers I've checked seem to have managed to integrate WY by now. Quite good earn on AY

WY sponsored into oneworld by QR, so due to the QR/QF "issues", they complete the process with QF last?
It’s a two way street. WY doesn’t let you enter QFF details into their bookings…(last I heard).

I could probably search for this but off hand, a buy now pay later (hold booking with $25 fee) made today and paid in 2 weeks should be ok right? I've made a tentative pending confirmation of some leave I have and thought I would try this option. I'm fairly sure its good to go but any experience from anyone here?

I don't think many tried this route but given other data points, no reason why this wouldn't work.

Per the promo page FAQ, it is answered specifically.

"Will I earn double Qantas Points or double Status Credits if I use ‘Book Now, Pay Later’ to make my flight booking?"

"If you book your eligible flight during the promotion period, you will earn the bonus reward regardless of payment date. You will not earn double Qantas Points or double Status Credits if you do not complete your payment on the advised payment due date. If you book your eligible flight outside the promotion period and pay for your booking within the promotion period, your booking will not be eligible."
