List of upcoming new lounges and upgrades (as per: Qantas fires up $100M lounge upgrade plan including new London First lounge - Point Hacks)
  • London First Lounge: new space (subject to agreement with Heathrow and UK officials), expected to open in late 2025.
  • Hong Kong International Lounge: reopening in April 2023 with the yum cha trolley.
  • Melbourne International Business Lounge: Proposed redevelopment, targeting a full refresh with Stage 1 opening in mid-2024.
  • Sydney International Business Lounge: Proposed full rebuild from scratch (as previously announced before COVID-19). Pending confirmation of Sydney Airport’s terminal upgrade plans. Stage 1 is expected to be completed in early 2025.
  • Hobart Qantas Club: Proposed relocation and new lounge with the terminal redevelopment. An increase in seating from 96 to 150.
  • Broome Regional Lounge: Brand new regional lounge with a doubling of capacity to 100 seats, opening in 2024.
Excited to see what they can do for the London First Lounge!

So sounds like SYD airport plans to add more gates towards the Freight area are on - as I think this is where the J Lounge extension will go.

MEL J lounge is what it is. Hopefully they can demolish some walls somewhere to get some actual views, but otherwise some smarter design with fake skylights and windows is probably needed. Cathay does this fairly well in Hong Kong.

I wonder where exactly they are planning on building the proposed LHR F lounge.

Whaaaaaat??? what am I going to have to complain about then? 🤣

oh, "subject to terminal redevelopment". That’ll be in about 10 years then.😬

Ohhh yay to Hong Kong re-opening, loved the coughtails there!

Hobart - will happen about as soon as the VA2 lounge opens.... ie never.

Melbourne J - excellent news, its a big space I'm sure they can do much better with it.

so plan is to refurb SYD T1 J lounge and build a brand new one once terminal plans are confirmed...

What ever happened to the plan to completely overhaul the the terminals at SYD, so that all QF Intl and Domestic would all be served from the one terminal?

It’s being bounced around again.

Very surprised that there is no mention of the Dom J lounge given the state it's in and the fact that it was at the top of the priority list in 2019.
Yep I'm looking forward to SYD DOM J lounge getting some attention eventually.

Ah, here's a complaint. Every lounge has a timeline against it, except - you guessed it, Hobart. "Proposed relocation..." ... "Targeting ..." No dates.

As far as I know, the HBA Master Plan has a runway strengthening first, funded largely by the taxpayers (its owned by Schiphol), then some terminal work. As I can't see the taxpayers forking out abt $100mill or so for an overseas owned airport, the chances of a terminal upgrade and a new QP is about zero (as @jakeseven7 notes).
