I have a one night stay coming up. Have had some ok communication with the hotel in advance, but also seen some mixed views on TA.

It certainly looks convenient (not just for status runs!) so am hoping it will prove a good alternative to city stays for me.

I look forward to hearing reviews. A good option for early morning departures.

Stayed last night. All good. Wasn’t that many guests staying here. Looked like the Ibis next door had more patronage. Exec Lounge was closed for some reason, drinks & canapes in the bar area instead. Better option then the Novotel Airport.

Seems like the Exec lounge is regularly closed. I will be a bit peeved if that’s the case.

Guessing because lack of status customers at this stage. Got there for the second hour, hours are 5pm to 7pm.
Could select any tap or bottled beers, house spirits etc.

Better selection then Pullman Sydney Airport during the week, they had James Boags Premium or Light only in the lounge. Ended asking for pale ales from downstairs.

The GM talked up the EL in his communication with me so I will be a bit disappointed if it isn’t open. Shouldn’t really matter how many eligible residents they have.

That said, he acknowledged it wasn’t a major spread of food so probably doesn’t make much difference, as long as the bar isn’t too rowdy.

Not really surprised that occupancy isn’t high. Can BNE really sustain several airport hotels??

Staff initially quite evasive about lounge. Stated there were teething issues, unforeseen circumstances etc. Letter from GM also stated unforeseen circumstances.

Eventually one staff member confirmed it is lack of patronage. Most relevant to breakfast, as a spread of food would be prepared and put out only for two people to show up. Lots of wastage. Deemed better to give everyone of status or who had booked an exec room or suite a complementary, full off the card breakfast, including barista coffee.

I was initially disappointed as the check-in agent said I could use my drink voucher for coffee or juice at the bar if I wanted something pre or post the canapes. That to me was poor given you'd get coffee and soft drink any time in the lounge.

In the end, it wasn't too bad. Did (deliberately) have two coffees in afternoon in between meetings next door. Was not charged. Canapes were from 5pm and drinks continued through past 7pm. The last I ordered was at 7:40 and gave in my voucher for that as I thought it was only fair. The two red wines I sampled through the evening were among the better wines I've had in lounges.

Food was a tasting plate. One was more than enough for me as it is an assortment of rich meats, terrine, cheese etc. Suspect I was lucky to be solo so had one to myself. Didn't test if more would be made available if requested. Nor if it would vary by night.

Looked to me as though only 3 or 4 tables were partaking in the canapes. Fortunately bar was generally quiet.

Breakfast was good. Place almost deserted. At 9am only two tables occupied. One other couple arrived while I was there. I was last one remaining at 9:40. No buffet, just off the menu. Was charged but told it would be removed before final bill. It wasn't but when I queried the price of my total bill on checkout it was removed (wonder how many people get caught by not checking that??).

Was assured that lounge would be open next day, but only for coffees and soft drink through the day. Food would be back downstairs. Not sure if I was being told a fib but if that's the compromise I guess it makes sense.

Hotel was clearly very empty. I liked it but wonder how sustainable it is.

Overall, genuinely mixed views. Feel I was told some misinformation. But what I received (including an exec room upgrade) was good. The quiet and convenience (to the Dom terminal only) will probably see me stay here again at least once in a few months to give them another go.

They're still asking over $250 for a prepaid room, next door at the Ibis is $139 prepaid. Travelling by myself on my next occasion I know which one I am picking

I got under $200 with an upgrade promise. Given I knew I'd be around the hotel for quite a few hours it was worth it for me. But agree, doesn't seem like value or sustainable pricing.

Given the Novotel at the airport is regularly priced just under $300, I’d say their pricing is expected. I just wonder if they haven’t promoted themselves very well - it’s got to be better than staying at the Novotel. Can’t wait to try it.

I am booked at the Ibis BNE in two weeks on a pre-paid rate of $129.
With no Accor status I just couldn't justify the higher price of the Pullman.

I stayed at the hotel on Saturday night. The executive lounge was open for tea, coffee, soft drinks, but evening drinks and breakfast was downstairs. The lounge is small and having experienced the offerings downstairs I think it is a better option. There wasn't a big range of drinks in the lounge - coke, diet coke, still and sparkling water, jug of orange juice, tea and coffee machine. There was also a fruit bowl. No other food or snacks available whilst I was there.
The rest of the offerings were as kermatu has posted. Breakfast was very good, and a better alternative than a small buffet offering in the lounge, so all up I couldn't complain about the experience. The bar staff were proactive in offering an additional drink beyond 7pm, and were very helpful in offering tastings of the wines available. The bar was quite busy during my stay and I only saw one other couple with a tasting plate. I did wonder what other guests thought of those of us with the tasting plate and seemingly not paying for drinks.

For those who have stayed here, what have upgrades for Plats been like? I’m trying to decide between here and the Pullman King George Square and can’t decide. Only reason I’d stay here is because it’s new - location not really that important and price is about the same.

I was upgraded to an executive room on the 10th floor, the same floor as the lounge. The air conditioning in this room wasn’t working so I was relocated to a room on the 8th floor. I’m not sure if it was an executive room as well, but it was an identical room.
