I received it too, I did have some USA travel planned for next year but I wasn't ready to book this early.

Scott.

Is this targeted or can anyone have this benefit?
It resolves to this generic link which implies registration has occurred:

Frequent Flyer - Member Specials

This has the T&C's:
Important Information:
Qantas Frequent Flyer membership and Status credits are subject to the Qantas Frequent Flyer program terms and conditions
* The offer is only valid for the recipient of this email and for new bookings. You must register for this offer via the above registration link in the main text area of this email by 2 November 2012 to be eligible for this offer. This offer applies to travel taken by the recipient of this email only (regardless of other passengers in the same booking), and is not transferable. Travel is subject to availability and any applicable fare conditions. This offer cannot be used in conjunction with any other Status credit offer by Qantas per each individual segment of your itinerary. Bonus Status credits may take up to 6 weeks after completion of your travel to be credited to
your Qantas Frequent Flyer account.
^ An eligible flight for the purposes of this promotion means any flight with a QF flight number on the ticket where Status credits are normally earned. Status credits may not be earned on some fare types and booking classes including Classic Award flights and Qantas codeshare flights (i.e. with a QF flight number on the ticket) operated by Jetstar or Jetstar Asia other than in Economy booking classes Y, B, H, K (earn in L class is eligible only when travelling on a oneworld® fare product). Qantas Segments booked in X, U, Z or P classes are eligible to earn Points and Status credits only when booked as part of a Qantas & Jetstar Any Seat Award.

Received it, which is really annoying as none of those destinations happen to be a part of Queensland :p

The T&Cs on the email say that it is only for the recipient of the email.

But, anything's possible.

I got one of the emails too. But it means I have to fly longhaul and book it within the next few days or so. Chances of happening? Probably zero.

How many J syd-lax do I need to do to go from bronze to WP lol

Well... no more than usual. Because the promo doesn't apply to SYD-LAX J, only Y or W ;)

You need 4 return Premium Economy fares SYD-LAX to get from nothing to new-qualified-Platinum. Or, 8 return (Discount) Economy fares.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Oops! How about syd to hkg ?

You need 3 J returns SYD-HKG. It comes to about 2.5 returns if you peg on a tag flight (not SC-doubled) for peanuts on each inbound and outbound.

Outlay - still about $18k if all in cash. For ASAs... depends on what you value your points at.

I too received it. *yawn*. No real incentive, as i've already got all my overseas travel booked with VA (and I don't want to go where QF tells me, I want to go where I want to go :)).

I didn't get the email so I don't think I will risk it. Any bronze ff members got the email?

i got it too, also my first ever. bronze only (silver next week). wanting to go to singapore for easter so may yet utilize it, but assuming only the outbound flight would gain the points (if returning after 30th march)

I also just received the email for this offer. I do have some travel to LAX in these periods but not taking the bait just yet and will wait for a sale fare.
