what redemptions do people use these for? SYD-BKK seems to be an obvious standout at 40K F o/w, but wondering if anyone's had success jagging F transpacific flights or other interesting ones?

I have used 40K several times for HKG-BKK-SYD F on both legs. As they allow mixed class bookings, it is also a little bet better than LM.

That said 30% doesn't do it for me. I'd say yes at 40% (and I was offered that once but didn't take it up) but the 50% off where the deal is I think.

I did book once to SYD-BKK-MAD for a friend who wanted to go one way, and returned using SQ points.

Given the current exchange rate, even 40% off won't make me bite but I definitely will at 50% off.

So I tried buying points today for myself and my wife (just opened up a new account) and while it looks like the purchase went through (I received a confirmation number) I have yet to receive a confirmation email from United. Does it only go through once the points get credited to the account approximately 48hrs later??

Thanks.

Apologies I don't have a UA account. How much is it to buy say 20,000 miles right now without discount and/or bonus miles?

I have a nice growing stash of eRewards points that I can transfer to Mileage Plus which I feel would be better than transferring to AAdvantage.

16000+4k bonus is $560 usd

For 20k straight up is $700 usd and gets 5k bonus at the 40% bonus rate which ends today i think...probably no bonus as you dont have an account already?
