Struggling to use your Frequent Flyer Points?

Frequent Flyer Concierge takes the hard work out of finding award availability and redeeming your frequent flyer or credit card points for flights.

Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, the Frequent Flyer Concierge team at Frequent Flyer Concierge will help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

As a related aside Australian passport holders have access to automated immigration gates at DPS which might avoid the risk of delays. There was no queue at all when we went through.

Thanks for sharing this experience! Will definitely fly Qantas next time. Unfortunately on Sunday I had the (dis)pleasure to experience the combination of Virgins narrowbody (737-800) aircraft DPS>SYD and the T/G lounge at DPS. Not recommended.

Qantas Club member but no QF flights from ADL to DPS. Only JQ. Still miss out then.

My wife and I had a similar experience to @buckleyj a few days after they started the trial at the start of July. We had book a short stay day room at the Novotel and whilst having a look around the hotel we both commented how nice the lounge looked before we knew it was being trialed by Qantas. We to were escorted to the lounge by what we found out to be the Qantas manager and also had the catch up at check in to see what our thought were. My personal opinion is it rates higher than most of the International Business lounges due to the limited number of guests and also the quality and selection of food.

I have seen reports on Facebook that this Novotel lounge is now closed and it was only a one month trial.

and the aforementioned airport manager (I believe his name was Dean) understood the need for better clarity around boarding timelines.

Dean Johnson is the Qantas Station Manager in DPS

I'm flying DPS-SYD on Sunday and will report my findings. My passport is not supported by the new E-gates so it seems a bit of a gamble to leave it to the last 30 Min.

Asked about this late last week at check in where the counter agent was taken by surprise when I asked about the Novotel. She confirmed the trial ended however she couldn't give me the exact date and what the outcome was.

It’s a pity the lounge isn’t airside. That said the current offering is poor and sub QP standard at its worst .

Because in reality it’s a pain to have to add an extra four hours+ just for a quick trip to Bali.
Sure is but as JQ are on my banned list I don’t have a lot of options. Slightly OT and I know it doesn’t help with the lounge situation but several mates from footy recently went Malindo out and JQ back and commented on how superior the Malindo experience was

Oh I totally agree. Jetstar ran out of meals in J on a 13 hour flight. Not just ran out of an option but ran out of any meal!
I was more referring to GPH who suggested flying Qantas via Sydney or Melbourne.

As regular visitors to Bali we switched to GA awhile back but absolutely it’s a pain having to grab a connecting flight from ADL for what is a shortish flight. I’m used to getting no love from QF in ADL though 😔

We have always been in the habit of flying BNE via SYD to DPS to utilise the SYD FLounge and A330, but directly home to BNE. Will probably give it in a miss in future as finding the FLounge too full and slow service just isn’t worth the extra hours of travel time. Especially as we go to Bali/Lombok to relax and unwind.

That’s it in a nutshell. Bali is a quick trip for R&R and not about the trip to get there.
