Just wondering if anyone in here has experienced the new offering. I've seen a couple of pics on FT with some mentioning that the "Medium Haul" legs to/from Australia don't have it yet. Anyone have any experiences that they can report on as yet?

Not done the new offering yet. Unable to provide any information on the experience. Apologies :)

From memory, it's an offering where you get to opt out of meal/snack service to maximize your time sleeping in J for overnight flights.

You could choose to eat pre-boarding at he lounge and forgo all meals/food onboard or you could do a downsized meal option onboard J, which would be served as quickly as operationally possible.

Once you've had your "downsized meal" you can doze off, not to be disturbed at all for the rest of your flight

You can let the cabin manager/FA know of your choice and they'd provide accordingly.

You can also turn on the DND indicator in your J seat, so that any other FA's would also know that you'd like to rest and not disturbed

I'm pretty sure we got the new service on the flight I took from HKG to MEL arriving yesterday morning. Forgive me for the sketchy details, this was the last leg of flights back from Europe and I was pretty tired by that stage but I did notice a change with the sleeping arrangements ie it seemed like a new and quite nice doona, better and more substantial pillow (although a bit too firm for me) and a mattress pad very similar to the one that QF offer.
Also, the dinner service seems to have changed to be a bit more like QF. ie individually serving each passenger and not a trolley service. I must say the food was very good but they were also VERY slow to take the orders and so it was at about 2.5 hours after take off until I got my dinner, too long for my liking. One of the things I always liked about CX J over QF J was the fact that they were efficient with their meal services but it seems like moving to this new system is making them as slow as QF often are in J. I know some people value the food quality and service level as more important but for me, I just like tasty food served quickly so that I can sleep or whatever else I want to do.

Nice to hear the mattress pads and slippers have made their way onto Australian flights. Here's hoping it continues!

Yes I flew Mel to Hkg a few weeks earlier on they way to Europe and there were no slippers or mattress pad then but they did have them on the way back. I think every airline should do slippers in J, I want to take my shoes off but don't want to walk around in socks or put my shoes back on to visit the loo.

Are they offering pyjamas in J yet? If not, then why not?

Still I can always take my QF pyjamas.

I'll be interested to see how my size 12 hoofs do in the slippers!

No and not intending to by the look of it.

I thought the slippers were pretty big. Just checked with Hubby who is also size 12 and he said they were too small for him but he still wore them to the bathroom so I guess they were doable. No PJ's as stated above.
