With the redevelopment of Hobart International Airport terminal, the old horrible Qantas Club has gone and a temporary one is in place.

The new QP due to open in 2026 and I've been told it will be "a little larger" than the old one. So not big enough.

E-mail today contains a render. Look at all that open space, without even seating! 🤣

I thought that when I was in Hobart recently it was even worse than I remembered so maybe because it is the temp one

"... inspired by the Tasmanian landscape..."
Queenstown perhaps?

Its HBA.

The new Sydney Int J lounge is inspired by the Blue Mountains and Bondi, IIRC. I mean - really?

Same deal at the BME and new ADL lounges. Should just serve Ikea meatballs to complete the experience.

Inspired by a Moonah industrial park corporate staff cafeteria by the look of it to me.

I've seen more individuality and style in a medical waiting room.....

Walked out of the Qantas club in Hobart Airport again today. Walked in - absolutely packed the gills; found one seat on a small shared table.

Went to get something from the tiny buffet area (toastie or salad) - shoulder to shoulder. Saw two separate lots of people bumping into each other and spilling things.

People keep coming to the entrance, seeing situation & turning around, which is what I should’ve done in the first place.

Three Qantas aircraft all due to fly out in a short period a hour away. I left and just paid $13 for a coffee and a sandwich in the terminal.

This is what happens when two greedy organisations – Qantas and Hobart Airport - meet and decide to screw their customers.

MrsK and I had that same experience back in late Dec in Hobart. We managed to find two seat near the window, but we were so packed in that after five minutes we left and went back out into the terminal.

Until they finish the work, it's simply not worth it.

When does the new QP open?

Now with the JQ direct flight to Adelaide departing late arvo, I’m looking forward to being a sardine in the HBA Qantas club when we depart on 24th June 🥳🤡

Are the QP Reno’s nearing completion @RooFlyer ?
My next visit to HBA is 4 weeks time.

When does the new QP open?

QP not being reno'd, but the part of the terminal it was in being re-built and extended, so will be brand new when opened.

Original announcement "2026". The part of the terminal that's going to house the QP is still a work-site of steel framing. So I'd say H2 26 optimistically, Q4 probably. But it won't be much bigger than the original, horrid old QP, from what Qantas have said on local radio.
