Re: Qantas Platinum One now includes free 'Partner Platinum' status

Partner Platinum is an excellent benefit. Now I wish I could go back and choose 50,000 points instead of Partner Gold, though.

Qantas Platinum One now includes free 'Partner Platinum' status

Happy wife, happy life!

Re: Qantas Platinum One now includes free 'Partner Platinum' status

My wife is very happy now as she only dropped back to gold last week, thats wicked as.

Re: Qantas Platinum One now includes free 'Partner Platinum' status

I´m not P1 (and as a SFSC, no prospect of being one).

My apologies, I'd naturally assumed P1 status due to the vast number of adventure reports as of late!

Re: Qantas Platinum One now includes free 'Partner Platinum' status

Admittedly, quite a few of the new benefits should have been made available in the first place for the top tier, such as the ability to take an earlier flight without any charges and free phone bookings.

Ahhh, yes - but too hard to get the requisite QF-specific SCs.

Qantas to add to status benefits for P1's

Qantas is to introduce new benefits for its most elite tier of frequent flyer program members to reward them for their loyalty and encourage those with a lower loyalty card status to book more flights to join the top level.
The airline's Platinum One members will receive a complimentary Platinum membership for their spouse or de facto partner, the ability to switch to an earlier domestic flight without extra cost, free phone bookings, a complimentary premium membership in the Qantas Golf Club and the ability to earn double points in Qantas restaurants.
"We need to make sure our program remains very attractive to incentivise people to move to a higher tier," Qantas Loyalty chief executive Lesley Grant said.
"We have made these changes based on feedback from our Platinum One members. Because they spend so much time away from home, they highly value the opportunity for partners to join them when they are away on these trips."

P1 was pretty much a joke until now but these changes do make it a status level worth attaining.

I'm interested in which of the announced changes is particularly attractive to you? Not taking exception to your comment. Genuinely interested.

My partner was one of the inaugural Plat One group and retained his membership for a couple of years, and is now back to Platinum. I qualified in the second round and have re-qualified subsequently, running through to late 2015.

On the reports I've just scanned, I can see nothing at all that "enhances" (in either sense of the word) the P1 status for me. But then, I'm not interested in golf, I don't recall ever being charged for a phone booking or change, and I've never chosen my restaurants on the basis of QFF point availability.

Maybe the new benefits don't align with my particular circumstances? Or is there something I'm missing?

Re: Qantas to add to status benefits for P1's

None of them are particularly attractive to me, as I have Buckley's of ever cracking 2000 SCs a year let alone 3600+, however partner WP, fee free telephone bookings, and the 75k/100k bonus point "additional benefits" all seem like valuable additions.

Re: Qantas to add to status benefits for P1's

I've registered Mr AirKat this morning. He was gold (on his own, not partner gold) but is quite pleased with this as always falls in that 900-1,000 SCs range. Thanks QF, this is great!

Just Logged in and saw the following Link

nominate your partner for Platinum One Status

Seems I may nominate my partner for P1 Status not WP LOL :) When you click n the link it does state WP

Its good to see QF doing a little more for Status customers just hope that this is the start of more improvements to the P1 programme which thus far has been underwhelming.

It would be nice if QF could actually get the little things right. partner was excited when she saw P1 nomination and whilst still happy is slightly deflated at WP level only ROFL :)

Over all well done QF keep them coming :)

Re: Qantas Platinum One now includes free 'Partner Platinum' status

These additions are a step in the right direction. P1 still isn't really comparable IMHO to GGL with BA and the lure of Lifetime OWE but baby steps I suppose :)

Re: Qantas Platinum One now includes free 'Partner Platinum' status

Nice to see an actual enhancement that benefits a few.. But now since they've taken out ' the shortcut to status' aka masa why can't they improve normal platinum..

Re: Qantas Platinum One now includes free 'Partner Platinum' status

I am planning to get to P1 this year but my +1 is already WP and will maintain it.
Seems I will miss out on the complimentary Platinum membership just because we are both loyal :(.

Surely QF could extend it to family members when the partner is already WP or if the member does not have a partner?

Saw this article today in the SMH

Qantas targets top-tier frequent flyers with new benefits

- complimentary Platinum membership for their spouse or de facto partner,
- the ability to switch to an earlier domestic flight without extra cost,
- free phone bookings,
- a complimentary premium membership in the Qantas Golf Club
- the ability to earn double points in Qantas restaurants

Does this make P1 more attractive to people?

I probably would've worked harder for it, for the switching to earlier flight benefit alone. And phone bookings.

And is the Qantas Golf Club any good?

I don't think I can aim for 1000SC in < 2 months... espec on QF. :(
