My DP on the Personal US Platinum. I recently upgraded my Green to Platinum. I've set up a US Uber account, and it's credited for a ride I took in SYD to the airport. I haven't checked what the exchange rate that Uber applied - assuming it was favourable to them so there's that though it unlocks the Uber credit. YMMV.

I just completed a foreign spend before seeing that offer posted and was annoyed with myself for not having looked at my AMEX offers first. Then realised I wasn't targeted with the offer, so no harm no foul.

Agree though, shame to not get the offer, especially with an overseas holiday coming up.

Everyone's different, but those extra 3 MR points per dollar make it worth it for me under some circumstances. A spend of $100 plus 3% foreign transaction fee on the Platinum card earns 540 MR points with this offer. For those FF programmes that give you 1 FF point per 2 MR points, that means that spending the $100 will net 270 FF points.

So effectively you're paying $3 for those 270 points -- ie. just over 1.1 cent per point. If you were buying points outright, even in the very best sales you'd never get them that cheaply. This makes it very much worth it if you're accumulating, or looking to purchase, points in programmes such as Asia Miles or one of the Avios programmes -- even Qantas or Velocity if you have international Business or First class redemptions in mind.

Of course, after the December devaluation, this will change (depending on what FF points you're wanting to accumulate). But before then it could be well and truly worth it, even with the 3% fee -- it is for me, anyway.

I got this offer and just paid BCC rates through Sniip with the Amex.

Transaction has turned up on Amex appearing as BCC MOBILE APP BRISBANE, not prefixed with SNIIP as is usually the case with other payments I've made with Sniip. Naturally, no bonus points.

What have I done wrong?

I think I have a different baseline - foreign spending goes on my US Chase, which gives me a lower US$1/point earning, with 0% fee, and much better flexibility in a program that is 1:1 to EI/AC/AF/BA/EK/IB/B6/SQ/WN/UA/VS.

Edit: I just saw this is 3 bonus points (so it's 5 MR per $1). That's a bit more compelling

I did the same in mid-Oct.

I had 3x 1,250pts post 02 Nov.

The bonus points don’t specifically say Sniip, but I do t know what else would be 3 x 1,250z

Have you checked your Nov points?
