Thanks guys. I used the Marriot offer today, called the front desk and asked them to charge my card today instead on check-in and it works.

Edit: Well I got the email confirmation, just hope the credits actually land on my account. It's ok if it doesn't, i was going to book same place anyway.

It has certainly worked for me. I did one first to see if I received the credit and have done others subsequently - all successful so far.
