New Amex statement credits

For those who are still sitting on a Myer offer, but don't want to go to the shops on Christmas Eve - you can now access Boxing Day Sale pricing online.

I just bought myself a pair of trousers on sale, with an extra $35 kicker...

Free delivery on orders over $100.

Has anyone had any success with the recent Marriott offer? Stayed and paid at a participating property last week with a registered card and paid the bill at the front desk, but no email and no credit. (Spend >$300, get $150 back.)
Might wait a week or two and then send a message - there seems to be a dedicated contact form within the AMEX Offers site for these kinds of issues with bank-issued cards...

Myer's head of stores being quoted in a news.com.au article:

“We usually do see queues. Melbourne, Sydney and Chatswood are open from 5am and the first 300 customers get a golden ticket. We’ve seen strong sales of gift cards leading up to Christmas and that’s always a good indicator."

I immediately thought of you guys...

It might look good on the balance sheet now... but wait till the GC's are all redeemed at Coles, Officeworks, Kmart etc

Just remember, for those with Coles group/Myer GC you can use them to purchase other GC's like JB Hifi, Jetstar etc.

Hi mate,

I have 2 transactions done the same as you: 20th Dec. and 23rd Dec. both received emails but not paid out yet. I am on an Amex card will advise as this progresses.

Had 2 Amex cards hadn't used for HN offer and stopped by Moore Park NSW store. Emblazoned on counter was No Visa or GCs included. Checkout operator checked ok with manager who then came out and told me would be ineligible and I said was happy to go ahead. Got offer emails for both before I left.
They had told me I could load up to $1000 but it wouldn't scan so I reverted to $300 otherwise would have bought a higher value.

Does HN have anything reasonably priced?

I am in the market for a new Fridge, but I suspect good guys may be cheaper than HN and easier to deal with? thoughts?

I had saved the HN offer to 6 AMEX cards between the 2 of us....so today, with the sales on, made a beeline to our nearest HN....bought a new dishwasher (to replace my broken one sitting idly in the kitchen for the last 3 years :(, + paid installation, extra warranty and delivery costs at HN), a new shaver and a hair clipper and 2 HN GCs ($240 + $300 with 24 months to use them), and received 6 emails immediately...did not have to go down the contentious Vpay route and the sales lady allowed me to pay in $300 installments, and she knew all about the AMEX offer:cool:.....so saved $600 (POST TAX dollars) all up thanks to Amex!

HN should price match the Good Guys.
These offers among other things have really brought me back to the Amex stable. Had moved away and was using my Citi Prestige as my sole card for a few years - everything was simpler. But Amex have made it attractive to come back.

I purchased new headphones from HN last week and they price matched JB Hifi.

Slightly OT: The headphones were $499, price matched to $399. Checked HN website yesterday and they were on sale for $297. Called up the store and they said head to your local store for a refund of the difference. Went in store yesterday and the lady looked at my receipt (which included 3 years extended warranty - $140 - total price paid $539) and said "how much are they on sale for now" - I said $297 and she was like okay and typed the refund amount of $240~ into the eftpos machine without even checking the price I told her. I politely told her that the difference was only $102 as I had purchased extended warranty and she was like oh and cancelled the transaction and put in the new amount. As a bonus she left me refund the money onto a Visa card which meant I didn't lose the $100 credit I had received

HN can be very competitive in pricing at times but as always you need to know your prices for the items you want to purchase....and the internet means you can search from your home instead of ringing / visiting stores!! Amex have been very generous the last few months. It seems they have gone from throwing points at you to cashback.

Has anyone tried purchasing gift card at Freedom? Want a couple of the cheap 4 drawer storage units but they are out of stock for now.
