New Amex statement credits

That price is correct. Item is delivered by courier. If you don't live near a westfield or want to deal with their rubbish i stand by my suggestion.
Fair enough.
With all the cards looking so similar these days, you could be forgiven for mistakenly using your Mum's as yours.
Accidental purchases do occur, you know.
I had 4 Amex cards and the Westfield agent insisted on seeing photo ID, grabbed all 4 Amex cards and matched it against my Driver licence...and noted one of the cards was not in my name!! Hence, why I was / am so pi$$ed off with Westfield...and mum's supp card is off my account so I actually pay for all purchases with mum's supp card:shock:

Apple or android pay?

I was able to purchase a $200 XS card at Westfield Sydney on Saturday across 2 cards (was going to attempt a $400 XS card over 4 amex's but didn't want to test my luck too much), didn't receive emails and credits haven't posted yet. Also on Saturday split payment over 2 cards at Sunglass Hut QVB (20% off offer), received emails almost instantly and the 2 x $25 credits posted on Monday. How many others are still waiting for Westfield credits to post?

I try to convince my colleagues (all of whom are bright, with high incomes and some degree of travel) but sometimes it feels that we are speaking different languages

I reckon! I tried to convince some family members...I guess it is a lot of work to run around and chase these statement credits. They look at me weird like, "why waste your time"

For example: paying tax - One has a business and I know they pay tax - I told them how it could be advantageous to pay using a credit card that rewards you for paying tax! ....too hard basket.
Since jumping on the bandwagon in March, I've scored $1000 worth of harvey norman gift cards for $300 in ato fees just by paying tax (For me frequent flyer points are too expensive paying by AMEX). Along with the recent harvey norman 300/100 offer, I managed to get a Liebherr WKB4612 wine fridge for about $830 of my own money.
Then top it off with the boccaccio retail spend, shop small, I was able to get a lot of premium wines at literally 1/2 price. Now sure, it's stuff that I would NEVER of paid full retail for, but at least I can enjoy some of the finer things in life that I would never of been able to afford!

That's interesting - I'd seen several posts on OzBargain that the red card could be (or previously could be) used at Woolworths as well, regardless of whether in a Westfield or not, I'll have to try it at our local WW.

Very interested to hear the results of your test.

Reporting back - just tried the red Westfield card at Woolworths Warwick (WA) which isn't within bull's roar of a Westfield, and YES it worked. Used the self-service checkouts, swiped the card - didn't have to select an account, "Gift Card Redemption" flashed up on the EFTPOS terminal screen and then it just asked for the PIN. The receipt also shows "Gift Card Redemption" and "Savings" as the account. As per SydneySwan's experience at Coles, the receipt doesn't show the remaining gift card balance, but I can live without that LOL.

I also purchased Westfield XS cards at Westfield Sydney - on Saturday morning. Did not receive emails and have not yet received credits. Bit concerned but I believe I'm not the only one in the situation so am counting on Amex being their reliable selves and sorting it out eventually.

Over the weekend I tried my red Westfield card at a 7-eleven, a cafe in Melbourne and a car park machine to see if it would work. The 7-Eleven and cafe EFTPOS machines accepted it, the parking machine didn't BUT it did specify it needed credit or v/m debit card for payment.

I bought some XS cards on Monday afternoon. Didn't work when I tried them Tuesday lunchtime - worked today. Sales rep said they take 24 hours to activate if they've exceeded their individual sales quota. Got my statement credits today. Have a few more cards - mostly supplementary - have loaded them onto ApplePay. Hopefully I can use them without the stringent ID check. Will try tomorrow.

Did you check your balance online when they wouldn't work?
