New Amex statement credits

Myer credits and mobile credits received. The mobile credits were actually marked as Myer so there was a 35 and a 10. Still no sign of Westfield credits.

Yes, the Mobile Wallet credits show as coming from the shop you made the qualifying spend in. In my case, Woolies.

Going to buy a couple more Westfield XS but larger value as $100 at a time is painful. Might not maximize this offer but a cool new payment feature so I can extend the use of Amex where it's not accepted or surcharged outside of Westfield centers. Promotion seems to have worked in getting me as a customer :)

Does anyone know where it can be used outside of Westfield Centers?

Used the last 5 of my harvey norman offer to grab a wine fridge. Lady said, sorry can't split payments with AMEX - head office has told us not too.
I told her it would be a deal breaker and I won't buy if they can't split (got that from someone here). Lady rang her manager and asked - manager said only if the name on card matches my ID. I said that was fine - I'll go ahead and put a deposit down on my cards, and the wife will come in and use hers. Manager rang back a minute late and said let him put through all his cards...Win!

It probably helped that you were actually buying something physical from HN instead of GCs or VPs.

It can be challenging. I try to use the offers straight away, otherwise they mount up very quickly.

Some people argue they do not have an amex because they cannot see the benefit in paying an annual fee.
I too have been feeling a little overwhelmed by the number of offers. I only just got round today to spending the gift cards I bought through the last Dan's offer in October.

I try to convince my colleagues (all of whom are bright, with high incomes and some degree of travel) but sometimes it feels that we are speaking different languages

Same here.

Yesterday bought Westfield and Mayer gift cards X8.
Still need to buy FirstChoice and Qantas. The latter will be a massive hit to the pocket but since I do fly QF and the current Xmas offer 5 points p/dollar I can't resist :p

I was one of these people up until 1-2 months.

The perception I had was that not enough places took Amex, was expensive and it kinda fell into the 'too hard' basket.

Yeah - turned out I was wrong. We have a few Amex cards in the house now and wondering why we never signed up sooner. Really happy we jumped onboard.

When does the 5 points per dollar thing end?

Crazy right. Doing some Christmas shopping today, I have returned $125 almost without trying. Represents an average 25% off my Christmas shopping on top of promotions Myer, Dymocks etc were already running.

I easily return my annual fee in cashback offers let alone all the other benefits that come with Amex.

Just did the rounds ... only 4 cards here
Myer Adelaide ... no problems splitting payment = $300 x 2 GCs plus extra $10 mobile wallet credit
Liquor Choice ... From the sales person "Is this being paid using AMEX? Of course we can split the payments. Its a pretty good deal"

Scrooge Westfield ... The Amex deal is already over. No its not, I can show you. Oh you can only buy one card at a time and no split payments - Seems like they have all received the same notice. I wonder why they bother agreeing to having the offer if they cannot handle the heat.
