New Amex statement credits

With the current BP spend $40 get $10 statement credit offer, the T&C's say "Offer redeemable up to 2 times."

As there is no mention of different locations, it can be 2 times from the same BP?

Yep. I've received two "Thank you for spending at BP" e-mails for my two visits to the same BP on the same Amex card.

I've been back to the store and their terminal shows that the $40 was added at 10:30am this morning. But its still not showing on my account. They didn't dispute this.

The manager was quite helpful and rang the terminal providers who stated it can take up to 24 hours for the credit to register to your Opal account

Given Opal say 1 hour for the credit to occur, 24 hours is a considerable increment.

I'm prepared to wait until tomorrow to see if it loads itself or whether I have to go back to the store again.

From my experience, the amount shows up online only after I tap. I heard when you top up at the retialer, the amount is stored in the card and will go to opal server when you tap or something like that.

When I've done it like this before during small shop (but not at BP) the top up has always shown within 1 hour via my online login.

I also went to BP this morning for a $40 top up, all seemed normal, kept both the receipts. Just checked my Opal account after your post mentioning your account had not registered the top up. Neither has mine, 6 hours after the purchase. I also received the email from Amex congratulating me on the purchase.

Will check it again tomorrow morning.

Thanks for the info snabbu. Seems it maybe a system wide problem with BP.

FYI, my purchase was from BP Fairy Meadow.

5 cards signed up for the BP offer. Hopefully I can get some gc. If not hopefully I got some camping trips coming up.

Have tried 3 BP's so far for gift cards. Online the BP store locator said that all stocked gift cards. None of the store sold these items. I remember with the offer in mid 2016 the same issue occurred.

Was way too late for this yesterday! Didn't pay attention beforehand, and by the time Amex sent an email in the afternoon, it was already well and truly over. :D

As for Opal cards...

If you physically presented an Opal card in person for the top-up though, the amount is usable immediately. "Card is king", as they say. It may then take up to 24 hours for it to show up on the website/app, but that's not unusual (in fact, travel transactions can take that long to show up too).

The 1 hour figure is actually for going the other way: if you top up online or by phone (no physical card present), it can take up to an hour for the update propagate through the system so that you can pick it up the next time you physically tap your card at a connected reader.

A question regarding the $50 credit for $200 spend on Amex travel. I have an explorer $400 travel credit as well.

If i want to stack the two, do I need to spend $600 worth of travel (minus $400 travel credit and then $50 off to be $150 net), or i can spend $400 worth of travel to Use up $400 travel credit as well as getting $50 back?

Having used my $400 travel credit from two different Explorers I can confirm that it is a credit deducted from your booking and as I mentioned a few posts above you cannot apply the credit till you are above a $400 booking.

The balance is deducted from your Amex Explorer credit card.

With the $50 credit for $200 spend this can be achieved over one or more spends.

ie

You could say making a booking for $600 + and gain both at once ($400 travel credit and $200+ charged to your amex).

Or

You could say make a booking for more than $400 and less than $600, consume the $400 credit, pay the balance and then make a second, or even multiple bookings for at least the amount needed to make up the $200.

I just used mine fora trip to Koh Samui.

I booked at 3 different properties. One was a fantastic deal via Agoda. So not part of the credit or promo.

The other 2 I consumed the credit. One had an Amex "Free nights" rate (book 4 , pay for 3) and was cheaper than any of the various booking engines plus allowed me to use the credit up. The second was just for 2 nights, but was again cheaper than any of the normal hotel engines.

On the Amex Travel site many hotels can be bettered elsewhere but some are cheaper.

I also booked another hotel in Singapore for one night which was the same as the hotel engines, but it gained me the $50 rebate making it cheaper. I was just over the $400 on one Ko Samui Booking and combined with the Singapore hotel it got me over the $600 mark.

This. I don't believe the $400 is charged to your card, it is a credit applied against your booking at the time of purchase.

This is exactly correct. I recently completed a booking totalling $560. The $300 Plat Charge credit was removed, leaving $260 to be charged to my card, thus triggering the statement credit.

Hi lovetravellingoz how were you able find hotels cheaper on Amex. All the one I found were cheaper elsewhere and Amex doesn't have a price match policy whatsoever.
