New Altitude Black has landed...

I transferred 900k Altitude points into 450k Velocity points and I will get the 15% bonus which is 67.5k

let me know if i should perhaps remove this post... but it will be interesting to see how the VA:SQ transfer rate will be - potential to game it when there's good transfer offers on such as these.

About once a year Velocity give us a deal. This deal is an easy one to get to YES at 15% bonus. Virgin Australia has had back up availability and Mrscove liked her last PER-SYD-PER flights with them in J.

Called up Westpac a few weeks ago to find out what happened to my 3rd month of double points(having received my first two months double points already in July, August), was told I was being denied my last month's worth of double points from the promo because of "ATO spend". Asked to be put through to Customer Relations as I wanted to make a complaint. Explained to Customer Relations that I hadn't received my double points from the promo and also that my third month should include an extra week after the account was opened as it was at least a week after the account was opened before I could actually activate the cards(as per the promo, double points was valid for 3 months from card activation). Pointed out that during that 3rd month, I had purposely put a brand new Merc on the card and paid the extra surcharge fee for the privilege of doing so because I thought I would get double points on it. The lady I spoke to said she'll look into it.

Westpac Customer Relations finally came through today and the missing points from the double points promo finally posted today!

Even the double ATO points?

They're not ponying up with my double ATO points and refusing even to talk about it. About to cut my losses and move on despite loss of 650k altitude points.

Similar story here. I missed out on about 1,000,000 "double" points but interpretation of personal tax payment is complex.
I could not get any further with Westpac. Not really sure if it is worth the trouble of FOS. Cruiser - have you had any joy with this?
If I make more noise, they may be watching my Krisflyer Platinum expenditure too carefully.

I've stopped using them and moved on. Will likely leave it in the bottom drawer like the platinum plus after they enhanced it for the introduction of the black.

It's still working - this posted today!
Last chance everyone.

Even the double ATO points?

Yes, amazingly so. I didn't expect them to based on everyone else's experiences so far so was pleasantly surprised. It may have had something to do with my big spend on the new car as a big component of my 3rd month's double promo points ie. it wasn't all ATO spend.

I decided to keep this card after contemplating due to ATO 'enhancement'. My annual fee was taken out this month and I called and use the 'C' word (cancel) and got $200 refunded ...

Last night I saw the making of a "mini me" frequent flyer fiend. I show him how to make an ATO payment on a credit card and within minutes he has done two on the Government Easy Pay portal. One got him a potential Suites ride with SQ and the second looks like he gets enough (including the $50k bonus) to go PER-SYD-PER in J.

You'll be taking over the world soon Cove...or at least tying up all the world's airlines. ;)

Definitely go to the FOS. They are totally useless, however the first step is to go to a higher person at the bank who will generally give you what you're after purely to save them some money from escalation. Don't expect a decent result from the ombudsman themselves though - the service is a joke.

Altitude points from my last batch of ATO prepayments have just posted, about a mill worth, so Operation Abuse-Altitude-Black has concluded successfully.

so along with the results of the double points promo, leaves me with a healthy balance of around 3mil(should convert to about 1.5 SQ ff points) for some subsidised pointy end flying :) Nowhere close to Cove's warehouse, but enough for me I think!

This must be the only forum where it is considered "lucky" to be paying a lot of tax !

Now that D-day has passed, we should have a wake of sorts for this great card that has gone the way of the dodo. Ah well, it was good while it lasted, doubly so with the double points promotion. Too bad they realised what was happening and decided not to honour their side of the bargain with a few people.

On the good side, just made the call to friends at ATO to get refund of accidental overpayments processed quick-smart. Will be good to get that cash back in my account where it belongs!
