Never get those DSC email invitations

I see a lot of people talking about email invitations for DSC - I never seem to get these despite having flown Qantas for almost 6 years. Does anyone know of how to get myself a DSC offer? Would be good as I'm finally about to reach silver for the first time )

they seem random, but I think more normally given to people who have some status but are looking like failing to renew it...

As a 6-yr plat I have never got one, but did get a DSC to Hong Kong, I suspect because I had done 2 legs on CX in the past 12 months, so there is some rationale behind it.

Random yes, but in my case I had already requalified for WP. It did help me get to 2400 SC's and allow me to gift partner gold to a work colleague.
Apart from that, no benefit for me, but I'm sure it would make a big difference to those close to the next tier level.

I have only ever seen rhyme and reason.

SWMBO received one a little while ago - was on 0 SC's eight months into her "year" after earning 700+ the year before.

My only offer was some years ago - 4 months into my year I was on ~200 SC's - in the previous year I had re-qualified earning the 1200+ SC's within 2 weeks of my new "year".

I don't see a rhyme or reason. I have a Sep year end. I requal'd in (I think) February and got an offer in April - which then took me (incl. non DSC earning flights) to 4,080 SCs for the year - it was good for me and it did change some travel patterns (I flew to LHR on QF rather than CX and took a JASA that proved unnecessary to qualify for P1) but seemed a bit unnecessary.

Well then, that is pretty solid supporting evidence that they are indeed issued on a totally random basis. I have also never received one in 17 years of being a QFF / QC member! (not that I'm jealous of those that have received them or anything!!!)

If it helps the OP, I got one because I was close to qualifying for Silver (was 60 SC short when I received the email). Been a Bronze member since Dec '09 and only started flying this year. Seems like if you're nearing the end of your membership year and are just short of qualifying to the next tier you'll get an offer. (That's my take on it anyway)

My Four year old got a DSC in July when neither parents got the offer. Then both us parents got the Ool DSC offer and Daughter didn't. As all of our years end at different times our SC can vary dramatically which makes me think it has a lot to do with attaining next status and travel history to certain destinations hence targeted DSC's to certain ports. That's my two bits.

I agree with CavAck, I had been SG for a number of years unable to reach WP. With the DSC program I was reach WP status.

I was lucky enough to get it in a period where I was traveling to Europe every 3 weeks. Ended up with 6000 SC that year! So that's once in 9 years.

I think I have been targetted 2-3 times since I joined QFF in May 2003.

These days the promotion is useless to me as I book most of my flights ~6-9 months in advance.

No, I changed nothing except reaching SG.
