Hi guys,

note sure where to post this.
family emergency, reall sick family member over there.
my dad needs to go from Sydney to Delhi ASAP to see them.
unsure of the duration though
options?

he is applying to the dept of home affairs for an exemption....

EDIT: looks like emirates might be the best option

he's just been doing research but so far it seems.

1. as he has siblings in India who can rush to his mother's (my grandmother's) care. he won't get an exemption here from home affairs.
2. India is not allowing Australians in either
3. If he could even make it to India, he'd have to quarantine for 14 days upon arrival. dont think she has that type of time left.

For this, try calling Indian High Commission in SYD/CBR. I assume your dad has OCI ? If yes, on compassionate grounds he can be admitted into India even during CoVID times.

That's true mate ... even if he enters the country, he will need to quarantine for 14 days ... and from what I hear from my family in India, the quarantine locations are actually far away from the city and in some universities & colleges.

Yeah he has OCI. Thanks I'll tell him to pursue.

Eek, his final destination won't even be Delhi, he'll have to take another domestic flight on wards

I really can't offer any help with this, sorry. Certainly, it does look like there are too many obstacles to making this trip work at this point in time. But I just wanted to say that I really feel for you and your dad and I hope you're both OK. It's a terrible situation to be in. :(

thanks mate. yes, not much we can do unfortunately.
he's talking to her on whatsapp video calls, best that can be achieved in the circumstances.
Luckily enough extended family members based locally to help out.

It's so hard to be separated from family, especially at these major life events. Wishing you and your family all the best.
