G'day everyone,

long time lurker, first time poster.

I am 100 SC short of getting Gold by my review date the 31/8/14. I have roughly 100,000 QFF points. Most of these points have come flying the NSW Qantas Link routes as we predominantly fly VA for the capital city routes for work.

Would love to hear some suggestions from you guys.

Thanks
Brownie

I'm in the same situation, but before December. By the end of Nov I should be 90 SC away from gold. Right now, I'm on bronze!

SYD-xADL-PER return is 100SC these days in regular Economy (the one between discount and flexible economy)

I guess it depends whether you want to use dollars or points but these days dollars seems to be the only way to go. You could consder MEL-BNE-CNS for 30 SC in Y and then a direct flight back in J for an additional 60 SC, or vv. It is one of the better ASA runs out of MEL too, not that any are that good any more.

Wekcome to AFF Brownie78!

Points won't help you much these days. How much are you prepared to spend?

One way of doing it is a SYD-AKL return in LAN business for 80SCs at a cost of ~$750 + overnight accommodation in AKL combined with a SYD-TMW or SYD-OOL return in economy.

For roughly the same price as JohnK's suggestion, you can get Brisbane to Newcastle for $69 as a Red-E deal and do that 10 times. The down side is that it will take longer, likely 3-4 days and you would have to get to BNE or NTL first. The upside is that NTL may be in your existing regional NSW travel pattern.

for the price won't you buy a QP membership if the OP is not travelling overseas?

SYD to AKL in EK F one way...$$$ I do realise, and return can be in cattle class.
The one good thing about EK is the onboard camera, wow, I felt like a real back seat pilot, on my flight from CHC to SYD few weeks ago, was in cattle class down the back, but still, flying the 777 is better than flying the 737 with JetConnect.

Why not SYD-AKL in Business and then return in Y. Exactly 100 SC.

Thanks for all the replies. I have picked up some extra trips and now need only 60SC's by the end of the month. Would love to hear some suggestions how I could do this cost and time effectively.

Cant go over to NZ?
Unless you love making small trips.
SYD to BNE in J will do, if you do a return, one way J, one way Yflex.
Red E deal/sale fare (trans Tasman) is the worst and slowest way to earn SC.
You need one big wallop, ie, a big J somewhere to get you 40 (within Aust), and then a coming back in Yflex.
Now that you need 60, maybe a trip to NZ should be on the cards?
EK J/F (one way as mentioned by our colleague above), one way Y booked on the QF website, ... the on board camera on the 380/777 is to die for! So to speak.
When I used the 777 from CHC to SYD last month, I wasnt sure if it was an exact video of my plane, but it was worth it for the wow factor, if you haven't had it done to you yet (the onboard camera action/movie that is).

Return SYD to PER Yflex will give you 40x2=80. Anything less, ie, Ydisc will earn you 20x2.
If you want to do it, you need to book now, so that you fly this or next weekend, dep SYD Sat, you can get the first QF flight at 7.30am or so from SYD, gets you to PER about after lunch, hang around the QP for a few hours, then do the red eye return back to SYD. If you dep on the 23.30pm flight from PER, you should get back to SYD at 6.30am.
Good MR, 24.5 hours!
For a 23Aug14 dep SYD-PER, you need a FlexSaver (Yflex), not cheap!
Aud$586x2=$1172. But if you have more than 5k in your QFF, you can reduce it by a bit.

There is no way to do it cheaply, as its only 2 weeks till the end of the month.
And you can't earn SC without flying, so you will have to fly to get the SC.
Going SYD to PER is the only way.
Going on the 23 weekend, will also give you a week after flying to make sure the QFF points appear and the SC appears.
Since the QF enhancements/enchantments, or game changer, a lot of cheaper ways to collect SCs have gone, SC earning rates went down a lot on the cheaper fares on 01Jul14.

Try SYD-OOL return.
One way in Business $509 (40SC) and one way on a Flexi at $219 (20SC). Total $728 and available most days.

Remember the SCs post in the year of the trip so any day including 31st August is OK for this.

I managed to snag Melbourne to Auckland on Emirates in Business with a Qantas code for $550. That's an easy 80 Status Credits there. Not sure about other locations or if the deal is still going, but that would be a pleasant way to spend a flight to earn.

Lucky Aaflyer.
For 80 SC, Au to NZ with QF flight no is the only way.
Au to Sg is $$$ but will earn a tidy sum of SCs too.
ADL to SYD in J is $8xx odd and only earns 40 or 50 SCs.
Even better is Au east coast to NZ with QF flight number on EK netal is about normally $12xx in F, now that would be good to try.
One day I will do it.
