I have a Navman n60i and it is now well and truly time to get another - I haven't updated the Maps for years as I couldn't get the discs to sync properly with the Navman when plugged into my laptop (well, that's my basic explanation :D)

I like Navman and in particular the EZY45 or MY85XLT (as I prefer the large screen and I have a windscreen connector that will fit both). Haven't chosen which, but interested in people who use either - swaying towards the MY85XLT for the added features that I find important.

I note that I have a number of options:

1. Trade in via Navman website and its $110 for the EZY45 or $229 for the MY85XLT (plus my cost of shipping the old one to their service centre)
2. Purchase new from Harvey Norman or D**k Smith (before 15 Feb) to secure additional EDR points but I retain my old unit

Handy to put in all the links here as I now have everything in the one place.

Now I am not beholden to 2, although nice on the EDR - the downside is that I have an old unit to dispose of in the future.

Do you have a tablet device with GPS enabled Maps?

If so, have you considered using that rather than a specific GPS device?

I have a Toshiba Thrive with Maps that has an inbuilt navigation system with voice directions. Admittedly I haven't yet fully tried it out but I'm happy to do so and provide feedback.

(living in Adelaide for so many years you don't really need a GPS! :D).

When my Navman died I went for the Garmin 1490T.
Main reason for Garmin over Navman was lifetime map updates. Also the fact that Vic Govt issues their Ministerial drivers with Garmins. Figured they must be alright.
On a side note, don't bother paying extra for the traffic updates from Suna. Absolute waste of time and more of a PITA changing routing based on non-current traffic conditions IMHO.

Trailed the official Garmin/Telstra iPhone app last month. Definitely sticking with a dedicated unit. Responsiveness just wasn't there.

I like your thinking and understand the premise of why DSE is better. Time to find my closest DSE store (Brookside might be convenient). BTW, I need to talk to you about a Westfield Gift card - need to buy one

:D:D:oops::oops::oops: Ah no, me and technology aren't the best of friends

Therefore no, I have enough problems driving a laptop (pun intended)

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Presumably I can still get EDR points (they should be available until DSE sold by Woolies).

Might even take along my daughters' or sons' EDR card so they can trigger some offers next week (with any luck)

Thanks for all the suggestions.

Went into DSE in Stafford on 14th and as the only person in the store (well, only 8 mins before closing), got good attention from the 2 guys in store -they found the only unit in stock. Got an extra years' warranty and put my online request for additional years' maps. Put it on my EDR card - damn, was meaning to put it on my sons'.

Actually, nowthat I think about it, that transaction hasn't shown up in my EDR purchases from DSE. Time to follow up :D

Metroview for smart phones/tablets is quite good. MetroView Systems Pty Ltd And at only $14.99, it's very good for the occassional sat-nav user.

I have it and I don't even own a car!
