Narrowing of benefits between WP and 'lesser' elite levels

I find the SIN F Lounge very, very average. SIN J is more than ampel and had hot food when l last visited, whereas the SIN F didn't

Isn't QF getting a new F lounge in SIN soon? I hope it is ready before April when I'll be there next time

It was mentioned as a Lounge to be upgraded by QF, I think it could be tied in with the new QF Asia thing...

I actually think the real benefit is domestically with better seat selection in whY - I have been the front row of whY for most flights recently which gives me extra leg room. I also don't think that "a few scattered F lounges" is fair - every major port I have travelled through has had a decent F lounge - SYD, MEL, SIN, HKG, NRT, LHR - and other ports have some decentish lounges.

For me it still comes back to the question of what is the reason to keep flying QF once I have retained WP? They have incentivised SG and PS but not WP.

I agree the major issue is WP & beyond. The 2400 SC level benefit is marginal vs DJ gold or plat. QF should look at this level. I fear they will continue to scale back the WP perks (any time access) or increase the qualifying threshold.

No chance - it's only 6 months away ...

... the style is supposed to be reminiscent of the MEL and SYD FLounges.

Look to [-]2103[/-] 2013 ...

Having been QF SG for a number of years, and finally achieving WP last membership year (flying Int. -Y, so not that easy to achieve) I feel there is a noticeable difference but not enough for a real wow factor.

On board - no noticeable difference, however the better seat selection and the International F lounges in MEL & SYD for me make travel a bit nicer. The food is soooo much nicer, but if I had to pay for my own flights to achieve status I don't believe that would be enough to convince me to spend the extra money to achieve WP.

The F Lounges in HKG, SIN & LAX (outbound) don't do a great deal for me - I'm just as happy to go to the J lounges at these airports.

I flew PER-MEL on the 6pm flight last Monday and was very surprised (no, not at all, actually) to see the very same hot dishes on offer as are in the MEL and SYD J lounges. In fact, that night, PER went one better. It was the first time I'd seen a maccaroni and cheese dish served in a large casserole dish.

I don't perceive any substantial difference between the two lounges and certainly nothing that would allow QF to argue that the implementation of the J lounges are a tangible increase in benefits to WP.

I class PER as a special case. They have better food and alcohol selections than the other QP's. I put this down to a compromise that they had to back-track on their proposed/planned J lounged there (and the PER QP is now almost double the size it was pre-renovation). In fact, the PER QP is actually quite nice when it's evening and quiet (and all the Miners have flown out).

Compare QP's with QP's where there is a J lounge attached, and there is a difference though (I avoid MEL and SYD QP's when it's peak hour; it's worse than down at the gates for crowding!).

I personally go down to the gates as they are usually almost empty compared to the MEL \ SYD QP's during peak (the gates have an almost exclusive feel about them where as the QP's have just about everyone in the airport in them)

I noticed that these places each got worse with the opening of the J Lounge.

Unfortunately I'm there 12/1/2/3 pm and it is often packed to the rafters... Seating availability, food and general service deteriorates. Can't see many options to improve things either

I thought the removal of anytime access was supposed to help..or is that just the J lounge? :p

+1

The FLounges overseas are "meh", but much quieter than the QP/J Lounges. Similairly the J Lounges on the east coast domestically.

The MEL Flounge is, IMHO, far superior to the SYD Flounge.

I prefer the MEL F Lounge too. :) The SYD F Lounge is excellent, but it is too big for me, and always, I guess unsurprisingly, seems much busier. Unfortunately I seem to be taking more and more of my international flights from SYD...:-|...but I have a couple of MEL-LHR's to look forward to before Christmas. :)

I just have a feeling that QF might come up with a few improvements for WP's. I have not seen or heard anything but I'm sure the recent Velocity relaunch will have woken a few QF FF execs up. I'd certainly like to see a little space put between WP and SG, particularly after the double status credits promotion.

I think that the food and service are superior (just) in the MEL Flounge.

Certainly, the MEL Flounge is IME much quieter than SYD. I have had several MEL sojourns where I have been the sole occupant at MEL for longish periods of time! It is always a huge disappointment to leave the Flounge for whY.

I fear the impending financial crisis emanating from both Europe and the USA will soon be ensuring I too will again be feeling this same disappointment on a regular basis. :( (My own radical view is that we undertake a global extermination of investment bankers, but everyone seems to think this is a tad extreme.)

Improvements or enhancements :?:

Yes quite right!! :) I think improvements!! We certainly don't want any more enhancements!!

I believe the new definition of enhancement, as used by QF to advise FF's of changes in the program, is "the removal of a previously supplied benefit, or the addition of a product or service that in no sensible way can be described as useful or beneficial." :p

Yes QF have changed my way of thinking completely. Now every time our developers mention enhancements I immediately think they are going to take stuff out instead of making the application better

Depends on perspective. They are an enhancement from a company POV.

And then we wonder why there are no more FLounges around as we wait in a tin shed for a delayed flight that has an orange star on it...
