Name on E-ticket is wrong

Hi all,

Booked some really cheap tickets from deal I found on Ozbargin. We are flying Sydney to Paris with Thai Airlines. The E-ticket I have received has our names as -

The names are correct and the spelling is right, but have the MR, MS, MISS on the end of our names with no space. Should I just rock up to the airport with this or should I try and change the name. I am worried that if they re issue the tickets it will forfeit my low price.

It is fairly normal, I have found this with Travel agent bookings, just the way their systems process the booking, however it always appears correctly on the boarding pass in the end!

OT but I once had a booking issue with VA. I was booking 241s over the phone and my +1 has a hyphenated surname (she couldn't be satisfied with just one, so she took mine and kept hers....absolute PITA, I advise all couples contemplating marriage not to do it, nor take the spouses surname with theirs ), but our kids just have my surname. When I booked for my daughter, the GCC rep assumed she had my wifes hyphenated surname (as she was the 241 partner with my wife). In short, I didn't pick up on this until arrival at the airport and BPs printed. They allowed her to fly and guaranteed us it was all corrected, but it wasn't. The flights were fine but the points and SCs never arrived even though her VFF number was entered (numerous times), the VA computer couldn't reconcile the different pax. surname to the account surname and kept automatically denying her (computer says Nooo).

From memory, we never were able to successfully sort that out and lost those points and SCs, I think (but she was allowed to fly).

At least you got the names right. I had them around the wrong way once. Luckily I was flying with someone who does charge to ring up and assist !!

Your daughter should still be entitled to the points/SC as she was a ff member at the time she took the flights. Did her VA ffn appear on the boarding passes?

As for name changing when you get married, either change nothing or change everything - if you're going to be Mrs Kerfoops domestically and Miss Jones internationally then the name on your ff card will be out of whack with one lot of bookings.

You need to make overseas flight bookings in the same name as your passport, then your frequent flyer membership needs to be in the same name as what's on the ticket to automatically earn points & SC.

Another major point people overlook is if your frequent flyer number doesn't match the name which you're booked under you can't choose decent seating according to your ff status, you won't get priority baggage or the extra baggage allowances nor be in the running for an op-up then might have hassles getting into lounges plus the hassle of chasing up the points manually on the airlines involved when you get back.

No that was the problem. The BPs were in the wrong name. Each time Velocity/VA tried to change it, it apparantly did change on their system but because the flight had reverted to airport control by the time I noticed the error, not even VAs system changes would actually register. In the end we may have got the points but I can recall really. It was at a time where the SCs were not required and the points would have been minimal.
