My partner doesn't meet the income criteria so I have to chase points hard. I really don't care about my credit rating except I don't want it to stop me getting cards and bonus points as I am semi retired and don't plan to borrow money.

I work part time (when we are not travelling) and hope to churn as many cards as possible for bonus points while I still work enough to meet criteria. So far have been very lucky and after banking this and a the rewards points I have sitting with ANZ and Westpac that are waiting for a transfer bonus will have my tally back over 600K despite just using our first 200K points in for Beijing Sydney J seats on Singapore Airlines next year. These flights way more than covered all of the annual fees I have paid so far.

I have never had any FF points worth a flight before late last year as we usually put up with the cheapest flights we can find so we can afford to travel more or stay away longer. I am glad I discovered these bonus points offers and with the advice provided on here and point hacks we at least can treat ourselves to some comfort that we never envisaged. Now to just find award flights that fit our plans or plans that fit around award flights.

Can't agree more. Am less than 30 and have managed to take Melbourne Paris in Qatar J and London Melbourne in Emirates F thanks to these offers

I got the 250k velocity home loan offer earlier this year. The loan was applied in Feb. Does anyone know if I can cancel the nab Velocity card and reapply for this 75k deal? If so, would they waive the $150 fee for being a home loan package customer?

Some guy applied for this offer and got approved 3 times. So you should be right. Not sure if they'll waive the fees though

Hi,

Got my NAB Velocity Premium card/s last night. Paid a Contents insurance and Water Rates bill last night.

Then rang NAB to confirm that these types of transactions qualify towards the $1500.00 spend for the 75 000 points, and for subsequent points accumulations.

NAB said i would have to check with each merchant FIRST before i paid my BILLS to see if the transactions would earn anything.

the key word appears to be regular BILLS. If you buy your groceries, and other occasional/one off or similar purchases these are OK - but regular BILLS - ISP, INSURANCE, RATES, etc are more doubtful.

anyone else had this experience?

I am tempted to just keep my AMEX EDGE card for as many purchases as i can, and then use my soon to be issued Global Wallet for other VISA payments.

All these first world problems, i dunno .......

The conditions of the current offer state:

"Important information if you apply for a NAB Home Loan between 2 May and 31 July 2016.

This offer is not available in conjunction with any other offer, including the NAB 250,000 Velocity Frequent Flyer Points offer. If you apply for a new NAB Velocity Rewards Premium Card, your 75,000 NAB Velocity Rewards Premium Card bonus points will be awarded within 3 months of meeting the eligibility criteria. If you also apply for a NAB Home Loan between 11 April and 31 July 2016 and meet the eligibility criteria for the NAB 250,000 Velocity Frequent Flyer Points offer, you will only receive 175,000 bonus Velocity Points (meaning that in total you will receive 250,000 bonus Velocity Frequent Flyer Points). If you apply for a NAB Home Loan and are awarded the 250,000 Velocity Points, you will not receive the 75,000 bonus Velocity Points as part of the cards offer."

Given the loan was in Feb, according to these terms, you're fine. Still a risk, but I reckon you would get the poitns after a complaint if they didn't come through automatically.

Hah - as if the merchant would have any idea...

Getting answers like this is why there's no point asking call centres anything points related. Read the terms and conditions on the rewards program and if in doubt - do a test transaction.

Big 4 cards aren't as picky as Amex and Citi card and in my experience pay on anything other than the usual suspects specifically excluded in the terms e.g. cash advance, gambling, ATO etc

Received my card on Friday and hit the required spend on Saturday , not sure how many days until NAB post the 75k bonus points . A quick update regard anyone holding a NaB qantas card and i still got approved for this card now have both cards running together

Finally, just received a text saying approved with a lower limit. All I'm interested in is the sign on bonus. Once I get the paperwork I'll know what the lower limit is, but what is the magic number / card colour to get the sign on bonus?

$6000. Anything less won't be the rewards premium with the sign on bonus.

It has worked out well. I have been approved for 6K limit on the plat - phew. I'm still shaking my head that the'y give me 2 cards exactly the same when I am still holding the first card and 150K points - you beauty. What are others doing re cancelling the first one, is there any reason not to cancel?

I applied for this card on Monday morning and emailed the payslips they asked for as soon as I finished the application. I got an SMS to confirm they received them at 11:30. Since then, nothing.

How long is normal for NAB to take to approve? Whenever I've applied for cards before I've been emailed confirmation very quickly. Should I give them a few more days or should I call up to prod them along?

EDIT: OK seems I need to learn some patience. I got an SMS today telling me the card has been opened and I'll receive it within five working days. Whoo-hoo!

I closed this card mid-August and am about to apply again for the bonus points. Fingers crossed!

Before I do, I thought I should pay it forward & see if anyone has a referral link they'd like me to use??

There are no referral links for this card as far as I am aware.

Dammit, a quick google suggested that was the case, but thought I'd throw it out there anyway- often people here are better informed! :)

thanks!

I could be wrong.

But I'm not aware of referral links.

If AFF members have relevant referral links they would normally be located here:

I think your approval should be fine. I still have this card, and now have another one the 'same' as I phoned to cancel telling them there were better sign on bonuses elsewhere and they told me to keep the original and apply again. New card arrived today and 75k bonus assured. I guess I can now cancel the original card once I make the required spend.

So you can actually have 2 of the same card in your name? LOL
Anyone received the bonus points this month?

Received the card late July, put the necessary spend through it in the first week. On the 20 August had only 20,000 points post to velocity.... Anyone had this problem?

Rang NAB, they said they'll get back to me this week. Will post outcome.

Initial call to NAB resulted in them asking the relevant team and response within a week. No response received so called NAB again and escalated it to a complaint. Only communication from NAB was a text message saying they had started investigation. About 1 week later the points were posted to my velocity account with no communication from NAB.

So points received afer some pushback, plus i potentially have an interest free card for the next 12 months. We'll see if that sticks.

I've logged onto Internet Banking and have sent a secure email asking if I have now reached the required level of spending that would permit me receiving the 75,000 bonus points. The auto-response says I should receive a reply in 2 business days....I'll wait & see.
