Got card, 40k points awarded late last year & transferred to family member just last week.
Trying to cancel without paying annual fee but NAB operator is baulking at the refund of annual fee. They reckon they'll reverse the 40K points if I close card account without paying fee.
Can they do that? And can they get the points from the family member account if they've already been transferred?

Remind me never to do business with you.

Ha! You'll also never do business with Cruiser Elite. And several others I have heard about who dont post here. My q. remains...can they get the points back if they have already been issued? And further, can they get the points back if they don't even exist anymore in the FF account as they've been transferred out?

T&Cs are silent on being able to 'claw back' points but are explicit in other scenarios such as when you won't be credited and when

When Points are not credited to your Membership Account
13 Points will not be credited to your Membership Account if:
a) You cease to be a member of the Qantas Frequent Flyer program;
b) You did not provide NAB with valid Membership Information (e.g. the Qantas Frequent Flyer program membership number you supplied to NAB is incorrect or not current); or
c) Your first name or surname on your Membership Account do not match those on your Card Account.

Closing your Card Account

14 If either you or NAB request closure of your Card Account, any Points not yet credited to your Membership Account at the time of the closure request will be forfeited, including Points in respect of any purchases during the statement period in which the closure request is made and any Bonus Points not yet credited.

My bush lawyer thinking would say that once you meet the criteria (e.g. minimum/eligible spend) and they transfer you the points they would then become your property and NAB wouldn't have a claim over them but I'm sure others on here would have more experience and knowledge.

They wont get the points back off you, but damn well bet they wont refund the annual fee to you :) lol.

Love NAB. Spent $69. Got the points in my QFF account within a week. Approximately a week later I now have the 20,000 bonus points and I haven't even paid the bill yet :).

And account now closed. I think that has been my fastest points harvest ever. Opening to closure, via 20,069 points, in 29 days :).

And the reason you gave NAB staff?

I made a mistake and meant to apply for the premium card. They then offered to swap me up, but I said, "no point as I have just paid my annual fee on my existing card which won't be refunded if I close that account. Sorry, but close please". They did.

I wonder how long I have to wait before applying for the Premium card to rinse another 40k points.

First time user so sorry if this has been asked or is elsewhere.
Does this card allow you to get points when paying ATO bills? Looking for a new card now Westpac has just stopped ATO points.

Anyone still waiting for their 20k to post?
I got the points for the purchase a couple of weeks back

Got mine today, about 4 wks after the first spend. Looks like some people in the 40k premium card thread got theirs, so the system may be doing a sweep of sorts.

First spend early Dec 14 , still waiting for 20k QFF bonus.:(

First spend Platinum Amex card last week, received 40k QFF bonus yesterday:)

Do you have both of the NAB card accounts ?.
I got my 20k QFF points in Dec , wanted to apply for the 40k version but not sure if I should cancel the 20k version first ?.

Yes, I have both cards. I will be closing the standard card once I receive the 20k bonus.

Once you have received your 20k bonus points close the account before applying for the 40k premium (better) card because in my opinion there is absolutely no benefit in holding the two cards simultaneously.

My wife has done exactly that!

(Extra 1000 for applying for balance protection, charged nothing for it as I never had a closing balance)

Okay - something strange has happened.

Got my 20,000 points 1st Jan as expected. Just looked in my QFF account - I've been credited with another 20,000 points this week from NAB.

No additional spend on the card since I spent $24 to activate the first bonus.

Who am I to question a financial institution's generosity, right?

I have had the same experience. Can they claw them back?
