NAB acquires Citibank Aus

It was just there - looks like they identified my NAB profile and linked - I hope they don't get that wrong along the way! :|
My new NAB account appeared in my app a few days ago and I e just received a “Welcome” email…

I’ll probably cancel this card / account in due course unless some undisclosed benefit turns up (that I don’t already get with existing NAB Platinum Debit, UBank and ING).

So I've just been told that my Citibank Plus will die at the end of February. Sad as I use it to instantly replenish my credit card for upcoming Payalls. Looks like I'll have to rely on overnight Bpays to do that going forward.

I just got the welcome email - forgot to cancel in time, now I need to contact both Nab and Citi to try to end the accounts, hoping to simplify things a bit.

I have a Citibank plus account. It has my correct current address. I am aware this is to be migrated to NAB.

I don’t have a NAB account but previously had a NAB credit card which was closed in early 2018. I was living at a different address then.

On Saturday I received a SMS form NAB.
Greeted me by my Christian name and advised they had sent a new debit card to my former address suburb that I would receive in 5-7 days.
Suggested I could use internet banking immediately.

I thought this was a scam but there was no link.
I was concerned that I may have been a victim of identity theft.

Phoned NAB this morning.
Turns out that the SMS was genuine but they were using my details from closed NAB credit card account not details from Citi.
They suggested they could redirect mailed card (that they had already supposedly sent to me).
I requested they cancel the debit card sent to wrong address and issue a new card to correct address. Staff member apologised, put a stop on the card, updates my address details and advised I would receive new issue card by priority mail to correct address.

In this day and age, that’s actually pretty poor form to not positively confirm details. As someone who’s had a NAB card (that I didn’t need nor want) get intercepted in the mail - that’s a disaster waiting to happen (your banking ID is on the card).

Anyway, it’s quite possible they hadn’t sent the card. I can’t see a new NAB in my app yet, so pretty sure mine hasn’t been issued yet.

They better send any new cards to me at my PO Box (per the contact details in my Citi Account and per my previous NAB credit Card), if it goes to my home address it will be stolen for sure.

Very irresponsible to use old details and not those on the Citibank account it is replacing.

Same same.
I've been told nothing by citi, I get more information from this forum.
Likewise I also use my citi plus just to instantly tsf $ to the cr card, no osko transfers to credit card accounts I think (or do they?) So, Bpay is quickest and overnight reliable? (I'd hate to miss a regular Payall payment)

Here was my favourite bit from the e-mail:
We previously advised that we will not be mailing NAB Visa Debit cards to overseas postal addresses. We have listened to feedback, and we will be mailing the NAB Visa Debit card to your postal address, whether it is in Australia or overseas.

Whatever were they thinking saying no, originally?

Received customer details form NAB yesterday (different to previous customer number when I had a CC). Checked details and they have my PO Box listed correctly as mailing address so hopefully that is where my card will end up (only need it for international travel).

I got my details as well, but under a separate NAB ID to my current NAB accounts.
And an old address, that I have updated two or three times before....

Surely a call to care line can migrate the new one onto your existing?

Unfortunately not. I contacted them two days ago and they can’t do it atm. I was told they would be able to do it in March 2024 once everyone’s migrated. A bit of a pain as you will need to sign in and out of the app to use the differnt NAB products.

Got the email myself yesterday and a follow-up text pointing it out. I’m not worrying too much about following it up as I’ll be dropping my Citi/ NAB debit card in favour of my new Wise card.

Ha, "I can't but someone else can later", maybe I'm too cynical.
I got the text (still no email) a few days ago advising new account opened. I have an existing nab app/id with no accounts (from the ubank upgrade shemozzle) and the new account was there.
Easy.

Tap on the account>details>scroll ½ way down... current interest rate 0.01% (yes, ⅒ of ⅒ of 1%🤣)
Scroll to bottom Options: Close account.
Easy.

Unless you’re transferring money overseas or v.v, the NAB/Citi, ING, UBank Debit Cards are as good, if not better than Wise.

I opened a Wise account the other day but will close it. Completely redundant AFAIC.
