Hi all,

Just wanted to say that this forum is awesome! I origionalyl had tickets for me and wifely from tel aviv - sydney all on classic awards (290k points - elal to hong kong and cathay pacific to sydney from hong kong). Anyways, I only noticed after reading this forum that I can get status credits if I book via ASA - so I searched... unfortunately cannot book from tel aviv with ASA so I booked the following:

Tel Aviv - Bangkok: Classic Award - 130,000 points - Business Class - El Al Airlines (2 tickets)
Bangkok - Sydney: ASA - 180,000 points - Qantas - FIRST Class (2 tickets).
Total points: 310,000. Flight depatrs May 1st.

For an extra 24k points (and about $250 extra in taxes), I was able to get first class from bangkok to sydney... and i earn status credits!

thanks heaps for a very informative forum!

Now I just have to figure how to best utilize my Amex points for hotels.

Also - been searching for ASA tickets from SYD - LAX (return) anytime inbetween July and November and unfortunately NONE available! Any tips guys?

cheers and hope you've all had a great weekend... :p

Ohhhh Bangkok (BKK), and not Ballina/Byron Bay(BNK)!

Was thinking for a sec who does F SYD-BNK :)

Forgot to add - I should also earn 20k points, so that will bring the total point spend to 290k... which is pretty much on par wit hthe classic awards tickets i previously booked... and in first class on the last leg

Thanks heaps... was literally just looking to see if I could do it.. .appreciate that ! :p

Congrats on the FASA, ASAs rock. :)

Re availability Jul-Nov, they are, of course, available pretty much every day. Just not at a reasonable 'price'. I don't what advice to offer other than to keep checking...sometimes some reasonably priced ones become available, though I've no idea of any patterns.

Hey,

ASA's most certainly do rock! Thanks for your response... I will definitely keep
checking every once in a while. I got a decent amount of MR in my Amex account. Now just need to see how I utilize them so I can reach Platinum FF with Qantas (using complimentary Marco Polo Diamond from Centurion ATM). I fly once a month SYD -MEL, thinking of buying ASA business class for this, tho will have to see if it's worth it...

Thanks again !
