My card not accepted to pay gggrrr...!!

Had the same problem on Saturday night with an 'On Hold' AAdvantage award booking. Website rejected 3 credit cards. Phoned American Airlines to pay, but I was using miles from my daughter's account before they expire, and AA insisted that the credit card must be in the name of the AAdvantage account holder. No flexibility. On the phone for 110 minutes before I finally gave up and let the booking drop off. We've booked flights from my daughter's miles at least 4 or 5 times in the past, and she has never owned a credit card (only just turned 18) so obviously have always paid the fees and taxes using my card in the past. Very frustrating, lost our bookings (part of a sequence with other flights already locked in using miles from other airlines) and it's now also very likely that my daughter's 25,000 miles will expire unless I purchase miles. However, how can I ever book flights using her miles when there is no credit card in her name?

I would wander off down to the nearest Commonwealth Bank and sign her up for a CBA travel MasterCard. No credit check, no age limit. Load it up and pay the bill.

It's a bit stupid though, my son was 3 when he first became an AAdvantage member - do they seriously expect 3 year olds to own credit cards?

Hmm, that is interesting to me too with my US points to become AA points sometime and my youngest under 18, have always used my CC without problem in the past!

Not sure what their motives are in this. Possibly to decrease credit card fraud, but more likely to stop people buying gazillions of points in fictitious names and using them for multiple award redemptions.

But the CBA travel card IS advertised as "no age limit" so you could even give it a try with a 3 y.o.

I'd be interested to hear how it goes.

Can you set her up as a supplementary card holder to your CC account? Then the card has her name on it but its your CC account. Obviously not going to help for yesterday's booking, but may help in the future.

Well this just went from bad to worse. I booked some Qantas award seats yesterday following this debacle, and now 51 hours after the AA award reservation is supposed to have dropped off I receive a "confirmation" email from AA for the award flights. They have also added a USD 50 telephone ticketing fee for this online reservation because I was unable to pay via the website. So now I have 2 sets of seats on the same flight !!

Called AA and they want USD 150 to cancel the booking that had disappeared from their own system for 51 hours !

I've had success changing my amex card to Beverley hills 9021 before I put the transaction through on amexs website then changing it back after.... I then enter zip code as 90210. I believe that some prepaid cards will work with any dummy address. But agree that its annoying

Sorry to bring up an old thread....

I paid for 2 Business awards from Mel to per earlier this month.

Had to use my sister account so used her credit card to pay the $30 taxes for both of is.

Tickets have come through saying ticketed (or whatever they say) but no money has been debited from her account?

Do I just leave it or call up to double check? I don't want to get to the airport on the last flight home to perth on a Sunday night with 2 young kids staying in perth and be told I don't have a ticket....

Booked some flights last week and simply added a zero to the front of my postcode - worked fine :)

If you got the "E-Ticket Confirmation-[record locator] [DDMMM]" email with the entry near the bottom with passenger names, ticket numbers and fee summary, you should be all good.

pretty sure ive stated this, the postcode is for usa/canada only and you do not need to enter anything in there and you shouldn't unless you live in the usa. just leave it blank
