I recently signed up for the MVP promotion, to access the fast track to Gold.

I seem to recall that the MVP also offered a 20% discount on rates. However, when I enter the code from the MVP web page into bookings I cant see any change to the rates on offer. One property was Adelaide, the other Singapore.

thanks

MVP discounts are for US properties only.

Not really; I beleve any property may choose to offer MVP rates.

However not all properties do so, including quite a few located in North America.

Easiest way find availability of these rates is to simply try and book with the rate code.

I have not heard of any being accepted outside of NA, put it that way! 20% of BAR or the same as advanced purchase without the need to purchase is a good offer.

Just checking - the correct code is N0041604 for "Hilton®, Hilton Garden Inn® hotels and at select U.S. Hilton Grand Vacations Club® locations".

Does the code have to be entered for stays to be counted towards the fast track?

Indications from FT are that award stays count, so the answer would be no. So any night/stay credit earning accommodation would be eligible.

In my experience, no - the code does not need to be entered for the stays to count.

I have made some significant savings today using the MVP codes to alter bookings made for 2 trips to the US later in the year. Thanks to this thread and the references to FT threads.
Successfully used the codes on HGI, Homewood, Hampton and Hilton properties. Only one Hilton did not have a discount on the date booked, so I moved to a HGI nearby. Typical savings of $25 to $45 per night, sometimes cheaper than advance payment rates.
I was able to alter existing bookings except for Hampton where I needed to make a fresh booking and cancel the old.
Once again AFF has improved my travel experience. Thanks to all contributors.

I've been researching the MVP rates for April 2012 in the US. I've noticed plenty of Hilton family properties with good discounts however no actual Hiltons. From others experiences, how far out can you usually book them with MVP and find a discounted rate?

See my previous post #3. It's really a case of book the cheapest flexible (in cluding MVP) you can find ASAP and update if lower priced options eventuate.

As I get closer to my US trip (still 5 months) more properties are releasing MVP rates. Hilton Fashion District NYC is sub $200 ex tax which seems a great rate. I was considering trying SPG fast track to Plat but with these rates and HH Diamond it looks like Hilton will be my hotel of choice.
