I was trying to look at booking a ticket SYD/MEL/PERTH.
I am confused a bit. It does not seem to allow that. I can only book Syd-Mel one way and Mel-Perth one way and Perth-Syd one way. Am I missing something? Obviously this can not be right?

Are you looking at stopping over on MEL, or do you just want to route SYD-PER via MEL?

If the former, then it doesn't matter that they are all on seperate PNR's.

If the latter - SYD-X/MEL-PER then if you request SYD-PER then sometimes the system will throw you an itinerary via MEL - sometimes not.

Unless you are after a Red E-deal (N class) it wil make no difference whether you book it online or over the phone. In fact, over the phone can often get some combinations the computer won't give you/

If you ARE after a Red E-deal, consider a Red Deal instead - booked in O class, about 8% more expensive, but greater availability and bookable over the phone.

I am looking for a stop over in Mel.
I am assuming that:
one Syd-Mel-Syd return and one Syd-Perth-Syd return will cost more than
One Syd-Mel-Perth-Syd. Isn't it correct.

Also,
Will not a Syd-Mel one way, Mel-Perth one way and a Perth - Sydn flight one way cost more than
Syd-Mel-Perth in flexible fares?

In international bookings again I saw the same issue.
How do you book a Syd-Sin-Bombay return? Do you just put Syd and Bombay as origin and destination? Does it mean that if I want stopovers I can not book online?
I am fully confused!!!!!

My office books through American Express. I was just trying to schedule an itinerary with some ballpark costs. But was surprised that the online booking does not allow multiple destinations.

SYD-MEL-PER will cost exactly the same whether on seperate bookings or the one booking if you are overnighting in MEL - you cannot have an overnight stopover on the through fare, and sector fares will be charged accordingly.

On this theme, if you have an itinerary that does involve several sectors - with some on the same day, make sure you check each days travel separately. If you don't you could not only end up paying more but also miss out on tier credits!

Why? I recently flew PER-KGI-PER-MEL-SYD-MEL (with the KGI-PER-MEL-SYD sector on the one day as a through fare) and the best my TA (QBT!) could offer was a mix of Vs, Ms and one K class sector. I checked the three days separately (online) and came up with a fare that was $80 cheaper than their "best available" fare AND all sectors, except the first one were in K class (ie full status credits). It took me three phone calls and a lot of patience to get them to book the cheaper K class throughfare from KGI to SYD, rather than a mix of Vs and Ms!!

ps travel.com.au has a facility where multiple sector fares can be booked online.
