Doing my first big classic reward redemption on a series of international flights and was wondering if it was possible to have a mix of classic reward flights and cash (paid) flights on the same booking?

I know it gives you the option when say you want to do SYD-LHR via the usual booking method, but not if you want to do multi-city. Obviously I'll have get in touch with the call centre, but just wanted to know before I wasted my time calling them as it will include three stops and tell me that it is not possible and it'll have to be booked separately.

Appreciate any past experiences or knowledge anyone might have on this.

Not exactly on the same booking, but a lot of us here do something similar. Sometimes because you haven't got enough points for the whole thing, or another reason might be to take advantage of better awards availability out of overseas ports.

Couple of options to look at:

1) Book a paid return flight to somewhere in Asia, such as Singapore. This is often referred to as a "staging flight" or "positioning flight". Then use points to book an award return flight to your Destination (in this example SIN to LHR return).

Make sure you allow plenty of layover time at the staging city.

2) Paid flight out, award flight back.
