Not so long ago the AA booking engine could combine a booking of SYD-LAX LAS-SYD SYD-LAX LAX-SYD for about 75% of the price of the return airfare if these bookings were made as a multi city booking. Now the price is the same as if these 2 trips were made as 2 separate SYD-USA-SYD Bookings. I noticed that this started happening on the transatlantic route a few months ago and now is happening on the transpacific route with AA.

Question is, are these type of loopholes that lead to some fare discounts using multi city booking engines coming to an end? Noticed that you can still get this effect on the Cheap Flights & Airfares - Book International Flights | Jetabroad with Delta and VAustralia but not anymore with AA.

No, these discounts have gone from ITA and any other multi booking engine, guess that AA realised that it was a perk that they no longer want to tolerate. I noticed that the discount disappeared from the transatlantic route a few weeks ago and then the transpacific route. Noticed that delta still offer it on the transpacific route but not the transatlantic route, guess that it is only a matter of time before they close this loophole as well.
