Here's an odd one.

I rarely fill up with fuel so, when I do, I check online for the discount that I will get. Just before Christmas I had a juicy 16 cent per litre offer at the top of the list so I went and filled the car on 28/12.

In the New Year I checked my account and found that I'd only been given 4 cents per litre and the 16 cents per litre offer was still there but now showing up as accrued on 31/12/2012 at 12:00:00.....it had been shifted to after I filled up! I can't remember the original accrual date but I know for sure that the offer was there before I bought fuel.

A couple of phone calls to customer service sorted out the problem and they gave me the extra QFF points but it pays to check and double-check if you're going to fill up. If you have the time and patience it might be worth taking screen shots too.

I believe the T&Cs say the highest value offer will be used.

You mentioned in your original post, "had a juicy 16 cent per litre offer at the top of the list ". Do you mean "voucher" instead of "offer"? The offer rewards usually take 1-2 weeks to appear in your account. If the fuel savings voucher was in your account but not used then it sounds like one of the unfortunate cases where the petrol station was offline at the time of the transaction. In this situation I believe that everyone who swipes an Everyday Rewards card is automatically given a 4 cent voucher. This is good for some people but I would be disappointed along with other members who only go into a Caltex/Woolworths station when they have a voucher higher than 4 cents available.

You've mentioned that you were able to resolve the points adjustment with the customer service centre. Well done. I have heard they can be helpful in these situations.

I can't explain the change in accrual dates. The only time I have seen this in my account is when there has been an error with fuel vouchers entered in my account and I have chased them up.

It was a voucher. I'd signed on to my EDR account and had seen it at the top of the list of vouchers as it was the highest offer that I had.
You could be right about the petrol station being offline but that doesn't explain why the voucher still appeared but with an accrued date after I filled up.

Customer service gave me a credit for the difference which is showing up as a "Woolworths Complimentary points offer". Interestingly the 16 cents voucher is still there too....perhaps they've forgotten to remove it!

I thought I was crazy but something similar was happening to me last year (I don't shop at WW now due to no bonus points offers)
I'd check my expiry dates on fuel vouchers occasionally so I didn't miss any, then sometimes I would log in and see 1 or 2 vouchers in the expired section, I would always scratch my head thinking hmm maybe I just missed the expiry but on the other hand I am sure I always checked the expiry soon after I accrued a voucher.

Seems to be a jumping date!

i wonder what number of points you'll receive for this 16c voucher! all up, counting the original and complimentary offer, hopefully it'll add up to 16poits a litre.

I've had similar problems; buy petrol and use a 10c voucher, then a couple of days later there is a just-expired expired 15c...which should have been used first. Not sure its worth chasing the "missing" points.

I gave up with EDR in the end after the bonus points dried up. WW used to get around $100-120 a week off me in groceries and about $70 of fuel a week.. now all that spend has gone to Coles.. WW lucky to get under $10 a week from me now..
