Most interesting place you've visited this year - 2015

Haven't travelled much this year except to Fiji and Australia for work. However, I still think walking my dogs on Takapuna beach (Auckland) as the sun rises has a view to compete with many others on here.

OK, so post your most interesting OR most scenic. Words aren't very interesting in this context, your bad or not.

I seriously have no idea what you're on about. If you've got nothing to say beyond sniping, why bother? That certainly ain't very interesting.

If you both can't get along I'll have to put my uniform on!

I see nothing wrong with commenting on what others have posted here, but further remarks about other members, no matter how placid, may be removed without notice. Keep your discussion to the topic please... and have a Merry Christmas (or insert other religion/holiday here)! :)

Mine would be South Africa. Everyday was a new adventure. The people, the sights, the animals, the food, just everything.IMG_0941.jpg

So I may have cheated a little but it's only one photo :)- Clockwise from top left Zion National Park (a truly amazing drive through there), Hubbard Glacier (awe inspiring), Mendenhall Glacier (lucky encounter) and Bryce Canyon (much better than the Grand Canyon)

My most interesting place this year was Ningxia province in China. It has everything from rocky mountain ranges, to massive sand dune deserts. Not many westerners get out there so was treated like a minor celebrity for a week.

Now here's a challenge. With so many excellent photos, choose the one (only one) that you'd pick as the 2015 Interesting Place of the Year photo!

As I love snorkelling and love sealife, there is a standout for me amongst all the great photos here. It's RooFlyers Galapagos pic, hands down winner in my book!

6 weeks through Chile, Peru and Colombia was pretty interesting.

The most interesting (and scenic) place for me was an unexpected side trip from Innsbruck to Bolzano in northern Italy. We were there at just the right time of year before the leaves fell off the trees and the colours and scenery were absolutely out of this world! All the more exciting as it was unexpected...

Mt Fuji, in early December. just glorious, and cold.

We had a week in Malaysian Borneo in October. Captured this picture of Mt Kinabalu flying from KotaKinabalu to Sandakan
Amazing experience, visiting the Orang-utan sanctuaries in Sepilok (Sandakan, Sabah) and Semenggoh (Kuching, Sarawak) and Bako National park for the Proboscis monkeys and sandstone sea stacks...

Going back in March for some more "jungle" in Mulu and "resorts" in Langkawi, Penang and Cameron Highlands...

Amazing! I was there in Dec 2014!

Just a friendly reminded to everyone to only post one photo at a time. The reason is so that people only put up their best photo, and we don't get overwhelmed! :)

Went to a few interesting places in 2015. Hard to pick one standout, but the Namib desert dunes were pretty spectacular. Climbed this one:
