More idiot tourists

Frightening. Apparently they are allowed to breed.

I think we traditionally don't see the same side of the fence, but in this case I can't agree with you more. Extremely frightening.

People... and Qantas... have joked that those who can't fasten a seat belt shouldn't be allowed beyond their doorstep. This is worse.

One of my favourites was reported on Flyertalk. An FTer was waiting to check in to an ORD-LHR flight, when the male half of an elderly couple already at the counter was heard to exclaim to the check in agent "but we're Americans, we don't need passports". I suspect they did not board their flight. :)

Aaaw, some of them don't seem too unreasonable or idiotic ....

Here in Australia, Escape Travel says it was once asked where a customer could obtain currency for Tasmania and whether they would need an international adaptor

:p

(sorry to Tasmanians, but I just couldn't resist)

Too stupid to travel: tourists' dumbest questions
While some are silly, the author lost a bit of credibility in my consideration with her second 'example'.

"What time does the nine o'clock tour leave?" - can be quite a reasonable question when suffixed with something along the lines of "I have been here since 8:30, it's 10 past nine and nothing is happening!".

Reminds me of my daughters intelligent friend who asked if she needed a passport to go the Melbourne. (from Sydney) This girl got a UAI of 92 which shows she has some intelligence...

Maybe some.... a UAI of 92 would barely get you into a science degree if you're lucky. ;)

With either bushfire time, railway time or island time, it might leave at 0930 & still be the 0900 departure. ;)

All I can say is with island time, departing at 10:30 still counts as a 9:00am departure... When we went to RAR, we did a 4x4 tour of the island, and we where picked up a good hour after we where meant to be. The 9am pickup was more 10ish...

I was asked on an Australian Stand at a Trade Show in Orlando if this guy could drive to Australia from there. This was the hundredth stupid question for the day so I responded "Sure can, just drive to Santa Monica, line up the pier and drive as fast as you can off it..." He wasn't overly amused! :D

Not really. All that truly proves is she can pass exams.

From memory, the UAI is indexed against your school and is not an individual score. I remember being told once that it is the one exam which you want everyone to do well since that will also push up your own score...

So a UAI of 92 could just mean that she went to a half decent school...

I don't know about other states but in QLD that is mostly true due to the method of calculating OP (hinges highly on personal performance in grades as well as personal and school performance in QCS), which is more or less then translated to a UAI easily. A UAI of 92 I believe is an OP 8 or 9.

In QLD, Engineering requires OP 6-8, and Science requires OP 7 or 8. Arts I believe only needs OP 9 or 10.

It would take a real "diamond in rough" (and slightly exaggerated) situation for a very good student to only get an OP 8 in spite of their performance.

Other states may have similar e.g. with respect to HSC.

Wow...what an O/T tangent.....

So true. Public transport delays are common around the world.

At 6:55pm you go to reception in the lounge and ask "What time is the 6:55pm flight boarding?".
