More competition across the ditch

Good god - how many carriers do we need on one route?

Qantas
Virgin
Air New Zealand
Jetstar
LAN
Aerolinas Argentinas
Emirates
China Airlines

any others?

I wonder how many routes around the world have this many carriers? I wonder what route has the most carriers flying it? LHR-JFK? SIN-HKG?

And how many of them are making money? Probably only NZ.

But yes, the cost of parking the aircraft vs flying it for a few hours makes it worthwhile.

In saying that, I wouldn't travel China Airlines if you are relying on an inbound connection being on time. So many times the likes of Emirates and Lan suffer huge delays if the inbouind aircraft is late. So it is good for the price but dont bother if you have to arrive on time.
