This morning when I logged into my QFF I noticed a new tile and after hovering over the info icon seemed to have worked out what this is. Has anyone else seen this and another question what value does this tile add, I am only interested in my total points balance so if these points are already included in the overall balance who cares if they are status bonus points.

Interesting addition. I don't have it but I have not flown a flight in my current membership year yet (sniff).

It seems to be an indicator to me that QFF are more and more going to base things on base points earned on things, which in turn of course is related to your spend. Which makes sense from their point of view. So letting you know that you earned 50k points (on top of the 50k you earned from flying, ie with 100% sttatus bonus) is a way to differentiate that.

At least I think.

I doubt they're doing it to be helpful. It probably means "enhancements" are on the way.

If you hover over the info it says something like this - "As a Gold Frequent Flyer, you'll earn 75% more points every time you fly on eligible flights with Qantas, Jetstar or American Airlines. These points are included in your total Qantas Points above."

So it's basically telling you how many bonus points you've earned this membership year from your flying because of your status to remind you of how having status is helping you towards your points goals.

What’s the wider context of that line item? Can you take a wider shot, please? ( without revealing too much info)

It's on your Activity statement on the website below the number of Status Credits and above the points earned towards Points Club. The number of Status Credits are shown below the total number of points you have on your account.

I get the Platinum version, that aside I am not sure if the number is your current membership year. There is no way I have accumulated 50,263 bonus points in my current membership year I have only taken 5 flights earning the grand total of 6,400 points. If I look at the previous year I had accumulated 180,000+ points through flying in the first 7 months of my membership year before I was grounded. I have no idea what period the 50,263 is from.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Well it can't go back very far as mine is showing a low figure, a tiny fraction of yours (but then most of my travel the past few years has been minimum points guarantee flights).

[cynical hat]

Gee QF providing a number that doesn't make sense in a new "feature" - never happened before :p

again I am suspicious about WHY this info is being singled out/provided. There's always a reason, and it's usually not in our favour.

@RichardMEL I think it is about time we catch up again (lets forget get SIN) and have a real chat and maybe request a meeting with the new QF VIP team.

@mivy it was not my intention to post a call out but as you said 'Well it can't go back very far as mine is showing a low figure, a tiny fraction of yours (but then most of my travel the past few years has been minimum points guarantee flights). Still not what your are getting at.

My Status Bonus - Points number is a low number. This would suggest that for me at least it is not going back too far into my flying history.

My figure - abt 4,500 - can't be a recent figure (membership year ending in Feb; only a tiny amount of flying last m'ship year) nor a long term figure, as that would be much more. Have been plat for >15 years with a lot of QF and AA international J flying.

There are a few caveats to the Status Bonus which mean you may have only received 50k bonus points on top of 130k from flights.

The 100% status bonus for WP/P1s in premium cabins is based on the Flex Y earn rate rather than the premium cabin travelled. Status bonus is also not applied on the minimum 800 points guarantee on shorter routes. Some examples of how this actually plays out:

SYD-MEL in discount Y earns 800 points + 0 bonus (due to minimum points guarantee)
SYD-CNS in discount Y earns 800 points + 600 bonus (due to minimum points guarantee)
SYD-PER in discount Y earns 1450 points + 1450 bonus

SYD-MEL in J earns 1400 base + 600 bonus
SYD-CNS in J earns 2100 base + 1100 bonus
SYD-PER in J earns 3300 base + 2200 bonus

Basically, to earn the full 100% you need to be flying routes >1500mi in economy. If you are flying shorter routes <1500mi covered by the minimum points guarantee, or flying J/F, the bonus you receive will less than 100% (and in some cases 0%!)

@sudoer thanks for the break down and I understand that not all flights earn at the 100%. There were just 2 things bothering me the first being how did QF come up with the number. If it is this membership year it would be to high. If it was last year's your explanation may be the answer and I will not be going back and trying to check. If it is lifetime the number seems to be low. The second is what value does it add to my account. As originally stated I am only interested in the total balance and do not care if the points come from flying, purchases, QBR, status bonus or any other source.

When you posted this I was not sure if it was 100% correct based on how QF calculate and display status bonus points. So the 800 points earnt for short flights 100% agree that is the number. So where am I going with this, this afternoon I flew MEL-ADL on a red-deal so only picking up the 800 points. When I logged into my QF account I noticed the magic status bonus - points number had gone up by 400 and and that got me thinking. I seem to recall some time back that even with the minimum points guarantee QF would award the 800 points but they were recorded as 400 base points and 400 status bonus points. For some reason MrsM QFF accounts has never upgraded to the new look and feel and I was able to confirm my suspicions.

In the new look and feel my account and I cannot seem to find a button that allows me to see bonus points

Now getting back to this new tile I am still none the wiser as to how the 52263 has been calculated and over what period. From what I noticed today the tally does grow however if this is a lifetime number even at 50+ odd thousand seems to be on the low side.

Latest update.

It can't be a lifetime number. If your example of 400 out of an 800 minimum points guarantee flight counting towards the "Status Bonus - Points" tally is accurate then my tally would be only a few flights or so only covering a few of the flights I've done this membership year. Almost all of my flying was done before the pandemic.

It's on your Activity statement on the website below the number of Status Credits and above the points earned towards Points Club. The number of Status Credits are shown below the total number of points you have on your account.

I don't see that on my page. In my current membership year I've flown 6 QF flights and over 100 JQ flights.

What status do you have? I assume it wouldn’t show if you are a Bronze member.

@mivy maybe I was not clear however however that number went up today by 400 points see below, 400 points is in bigger scheme of things is in the rats and mice category. I 100% agree with you it cannot be a lifetime number in my post above I used the term "if this is", as I mentioned a couple of times if it was lifetime it is on low side. If it is the past 12 months the number is way too high I have only flown 6 short hops with QF in the past 13 months.

The inclusion of this tile seems to be some bullsh!t number that makes no sense and provides no value.

The total on my account is showing what one would I get from 3 short domestic one way flights (1200 points) and I've flown more than that this membership year.
