Monarch charter?

I've noticed on the Cairns Airport International Arrivals and Departures list ZB9892 arrives 11.00am 31 Oct and departs 12.50pm 03 Nov. Some here would know, without having to look it up , that ZB is Monarch Airlines, a UK based LCC mainly flying to Med sun destinations. It has a charter operation as well. The inbound flight arrives from Apia and the outbound is to Siem Rep. It sounds like it is part of a one off charter with a great itinerary, albeit on a LCC :shock: Now if it were a regular route....! There are no details on the Monarch site that I can find but does anyone have any info? QF NB?

That would be Monarch that fits 374 seats into an A330-200 - the same aircaft that Qantas & Jetstar put 313 seats in. Monarch Airlines | About Us | aircraft
Amazing what 9 abreast in an A330 and 30" pitch will get you. Even AirAsiaX operating the significantly larger A330-300 is planning on only 16 more seats than Monarch shoehorn into the -200. Just how keen are you for that cheap ticket?

A little bit OT but CrazyDave told us a few months ago how the seats on the starboard side of DJs aircraft (737-800?), forward of the overwing exit rows have more pitch.
I discovered (the hard way) yesterday that the seating on Jetstar's A320s is exactly the opposite. The seats on the starboard side forward of the overwing exits have less pitch than those on the rest of the aircraft. I had nothing with me to measure the exact pitch with, but using my earphone cord, was able to ascertain that the D,E,F seats have about 19mm less pitch than the A,B,C seats. That doesn't sound like much, but for me (185cm), it was the difference between tolerably comfortable in 4C ADL-CNS and bruised shins and knees in 4D CNS-ADL. If the Jungle Jets are more comfortable, bring em on DJ.

Starboard: 3 rows @ 33", 2 rows @ 32", remainder @ 31"
Port: 3 rows @ 33", 9 rows @ 32", remainder @ 31"

No Dave. You didn't tell me that. Put it down to senile dementia on my part. I've found the relevant thread here and you did indeed give the correct info. I said it was a few months ago. In fact it was 16 months ago so perhaps i can be excused my lapse of memory.

Judging by the info you provided on Jetstar it seems my lower threshold for comfort is 30" and I copped one of the 29" seats.
29" is simply too small for me to fit my legs comfortably and I'm not exceptionally tall or large. (185cm and 90 kg)

I concur. I moved from 7C to 7D AVV-BNE last night to spread over two seats as 7AB were occupied (i'm 185 cm 140kg), 7D's pitch was a bit less... had to push up the armrest and sit at 30-odd degrees off centre. OT... FAs announcement last night "We only have snack service tonight, and we don't have every snack on the menu... if you are unhappy please don't yell at the crew, write to Jetstar".
