Hi All,

I'm wanting to book SYD-SIN-KUL-SIN-SYD using Krisflyer miles.

I wanted to do Premium Economy for SYD-SIN-KUL and J for the return.

I believe SIN-KUL does not have PE. Do I need to call to make a booking? Will they still take the full 51000 miles for the PE booking for the SYD-SIN-KUL leg even though SIN-KUL does not have PE?

Thanks.
K.

Yes - the entire itinerary will be calculated at the PE rate even though only one of the legs is PE (one of the features of married segment availability). The highest cabin class in a multi leg itinerary usually prices the entire itinerary at that higher class regardless of any Y legs as part of the itinerary.

Thanks. I will give them a call. Question is should I bother with PE redemption or just suck it up and go Y? Will be myself, wife and 12 year old daughter..

If you book the entire itinerary in one ticket, then it will be priced as a J redemption. You will be better off if you book the outbound and inbound separately: outbound will be priced as a W redemption (as @MathNerd mentioned above), and the inbound as a J redemption.

Thanks. So essentially 2 X one way redemptions ?

Yes indeed for a mixed class redemption it will price at highest cabin class in full itinerary and pax can enjoy all benefits pertaining to highest cabin class for full itinerary. So do the maths and bear in mind a mixed class ret booking should get you J Lounge access in BNE pre first flight but TBH without searching I do not know what others benefits OP might enjoy so for extra 17.5K pts it mat or may not be worth while booking ret mixed class - but as always no cap fits all -do the research and only OP can make final assessment what fits them best

But having said I always book 2 x O/W rdpts and never return rdpts - again to OP do your maths

On the mixed class subject...

I already booked 2 x Y Saver awards IST - SIN - DPS for 29k miles/ea.
When I booked there were no W award seats available. Reading this thread and checking availability for each leg I realised the reason why W awards are not showing is because there's no Premium Economy on the SIN-DPS leg. W saver awards are still available on the IST-SIN leg for 43k miles as I write this.

If I call SQ will I be able to "upgrade" the IST-SIN leg for the difference being 14k miles?

If yes, Y Saver awards have a cabin class/award changes fee of US$25 - but as mixed rewards cannot be booked online, would SQ wave this fee?

Hi all.

Does anyone know if the a380 that flies between Sydney and Singapore is a return J or the old J?

All SQ's big birds are refurbs - aka new J (none of the old wide J dark cream/brown seats, they're all maroon/purple now, with upper deck being all J).

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.
