Hi all, long time lurker (occasional poster)!

I've booked a classic rewards trip for my partner and I to Europe next year. Given the limited availability, I broke the departure and return legs up and booked them a seperate 'trips'. One was booked over the phone through the call centre and the return leg, manually online myself.

My partner has an apostrophe in his name (O'Brien). The e-ticket I've received for the booking made via call centre has his name listed as Obrien, but on the itinerary I booked the e-ticket is O Brien. No apostrophe for either.

Departing 17 July 2023: SYD > LAX, JFK > LHR
Return 17 Aug 2023: CDG > LAX > SYD

Do you foresee any issues? Should I have this corrected? Or are both widely accepted?
His passport is O'BRIEN.

I've had so many issues booking these flights using classic rewards. it's a relief to have everything locked and ticketed, so am nervous to request changes, epsecially given other airlines are involved (BA for JFK > LHR and Air France for CGD > LAX). :D

I wouldn’t worry about it. Tickets and airline PNR’s do not have apostrophes. You’ll be fine.

airline tickets typically do not have apostrophes, hyphens, and sometimes even spaces etc. You'll be fine.

I have a similar surname…
Like everyone has said it’ll be fine. 900+ flights and counting and I’ve had every possible variation an IT system could come up. Never had a problem.

My partners first name is hyphenated and that is what is shown on the passport.

Have been told multiple times not to worry, the airline (and cruise?) booking systems will not accept special characters and run the two names together. Never had a problem in dozens of trips.

How’d you guess? 🤔 😂

Or O Hara, O”Hara, Ohara, O#20Hara: IT systems do weird things.
Sometimes the apostrophe matters, like when changing drivers license between states and you have to provide all that lovely personal information again… and then other times like crossing national borders where it becomes seemingly irrelevant? 🤷‍♂️
