It certainly seems to be and at least now the result it should have been at the start of the saga.

Agreed. But it should be QF footing the bill - not the insurance company which has flow on effects to the rest of us through premiums :(

On 14 November we were to fly to Lord Howe Island at 11.40am,

I wonder if this is the OP in this story ..... sounds like it!

The article states: "In December 2015 Sherryl and Terry Storrier bought Qantas flights from Sydney to Lord Howe Island departing November 14, 2016 at 11.40am." so it fits exactly...glad the insurance paid out in the end but Qf should have footed the whole costl!!

Congratulations to OP (ShezMac) on the result albeit that you suffered some pain on the way through. If you can find time for another attempt at a trip to Lord Howe I am sure you will be well rewarded. We had a great time there.

Yes we have had success, finally have a refund of our accommodation. Funny though, it wasn't until the media became involved that the insurance re-assessed our claim and decided to grant us our money. Bit disappointed that QF were not made to pay, maybe the insurance will take them on???? I only hope this never happens again as no insurance will cover for an airline changing flight times without notification. Qantas did offer us $200 travel vouchers each, or 18,000 FF points each and one visit to the Qantas lounge when we next fly Qantas, all of which we declined to accept as they didn't equal our out of pocket loss. Great job by the Public Defender, thank you.
