I thought i'd create a generic missed approach thread, rather than use an existing date specific thread.
Flight: QF 575 SYD-PER
Aircraft: A332 (36J/265Y)
Date: 1st August 2012
Reason for Missed Approach: Wind Shear
I was on QF575 to Perth this morning. The flight was uneventful apart from the flight being delayed due to traffic.
As we approached Perth Airport, the seatbelt lights were turned on earlier than usual due to turbulence and there was a significant amount of low altitude cloud as we approached the airport. We would have been approximately 5 minutes from landing when I heard the engines spool up and the undercarriage was retracted and the pilot initiated a go around.
About 10 mins later, we had an announcement from the Captain, that they had a missed approach due to a Wind shear warning. We landed safely about 15 mins later.
As i was getting off the aircraft, i overheard a conversation between the pilot and the cabin crew, he informed them that the warning was from the aircraft rather than the airport radar.
Big thumbs up to the QF Crew.
