Found a link to this on another forum but I expect any Mileage Plus members have heard it directly:

Let's hope no other FF programmes copy the idea. OK perhaps for business travellers, but not so good for occasional leisure travel.

Not to mention America West (aka American Airlines) which will be following suit shortly. Can't have one of the "Big-3" out of step!
