When I tried recently to change FASA booked last year over the phone I was told no name changes allowed at all and no date changes allowed beyond one year of the original booking. The only positive is no penalty for cancellations.

I was quoted $168 cancellation fee, converted from AED as DXB was the city of departure (DXB-MEL-SYD-BNE)

I would do the trip for the hell of it and have the few days.

But that is just me.

Time off for me is a luxury I don't get enough of.

I tried to change a JASA online recently and couldn't do (ADL to HBA and return) - just wanted to change the dates - so I rang Qantas and they wanted 3500 points for phone help and 3500 for change fee (one of them might have been 4500) and I said I can't do it online so you shouldn't charge that - so I promptly logged into my booking to prove I was right and was able to change it - but then got an error message and thought oh well - then it all came up OK again - asked what dates do you want to change to and it was all good -PLUS it said I get a refund of around $160 which doesn't appear on the itinerary I was emailed but luckily took a screen shot - also was looking at eligible flights last night and there weren't many but seemed heaps more today - odd but I'm happy

Reading this post with interest : Find myself having to alter dates for my final JASA (BNE-SIN)as an unexepected trip to JNB popped up in the same date range. Question please, I am attempting to change dates on MMB and it looks like it will work however I was wondering if I switch to a Emirates code shared flight will I still get full status credits ? Cheers CM  I will advise of my success/failure once I follow through with change.

I don't think you could do any MASA on anything but QF plane and QFI flight number (although there was a very sparse anecdote about flights operated by another OneWorld carrier).
