Middle East Airspace Diversions/Cancellations

Does anyone else have a bad feeling that this is going to drag on longer than anticipated, possibly into April at the very least? I get the sense that the US entered this operation with a lot of confidence but under-prepared.

One thing seems certain: this operation has already made people rethink travel through the volatile Middle East, and it could permanently reshape parts of the global aviation industry as airlines and travelers reconsider the risks of routing through hubs in unstable regions. The ME3 need to be very careful how they treat their customer base...

Channel 7 news tonight with the very experienced Chris Reason as reporter on the Israeli/Lebanese border claimed crew of one USA ship in the area had been informed they'd be there until May.

If true, at least another six weeks of warfare.

And you don’t generally relocate a Marine Expeditionary Unit for fun.

I can see my trip to Europe in May being shot down too. Perhaps better to stick to SE Asia for now. Taiwan will have its own issues given what's going on in the ME (if you know what I mean).

It’s clear they are not going to end this until they get a cooperative regime with some trade offs. I think that’s going to be a multi month journey. No doubt some other strings are being pulled by some of Irans allies behind the scenes complicating things further.

I think I would be comfortable making booking for July onwards but opt for Flexible Fares perhaps.

In that case it's never going to end. There will have to be compromises on both sides.

I have a couple of bookings through the ME for later this year, and I expect to get a refund in both cases. Worth noting though that EY seems to have removed the ability to request a refund. The other carriers may well follow suit given the cost of not flying and having to pay refunds.

SMH just reporting.

The flight from Melbourne is just short on final at DXB, but seems to climb again and just did a U turn (may become circles). I can only imagine how you feel on this flight when you see the flight starting circling and you know the real reason is presumably " Dear passengers, we are advised that it is not safe to land at the moment due to income missiles/drones etc..."
Well… pax knew the risk of that before boarding their flight. So it would hardly be a surprise. And I guess you are thankful that you are flying around out of harms way?

Isn't this against Australian consumer law and what Qantas got into a lot of trouble for during Covid.
