Middle East Airspace Diversions/Cancellations

Screens at NRT last night listed QR as cancelled and an EK A380 parked outside. Saw 2 EK A380s parked at MEL (but that's normal for that time of day anyway) and a QR 777 parked at CBR.

Yea- lots of action in and out of DXB now which is pleasing to see. Oddly though, far less out of Abu Dhabi and Doha is still completely dead.

Can the risk really be THAT different between those super close locations? Or is it rather different risk appetite that EK is willing to show here?

They are safe in Dubai with DIL’s parents and report decreased missile activity yesterday.

Forgive the attempt at levity @Seat0B , but when I read that I thought "Yes, a parent will always like to hear that there is 'decreased missile activity' where the kids are."

There’s a lot of people in this part of the world… but we’re not all leaving! The backlog is largely travellers stuck midway. Still a lot, no doubt, but there aren’t tens of thousands of Australians trying to leave the gulf.

Interesting that EK/EY seem to be pushing ahead very hard with additional services. They are geographically in better positions than DOH/BAH, but there’s been a lot of activity in the UAE today.
Yes Seat Son is a long term resident of the UAE -5 years in Dubai and now 3 years in Abu Dhabi. He only wants to leave to go to his wedding in South Africa and will then be straight back “home” to the UAE.

Any ideas on how EK would have decided who to put on EK414? Pax bound for Australia by status?

Friends flying QF9 on Saturday and have been advised they will be stopping in Singapore to refuel. Will they need to disembark and go through security to reboard

I presume they can leave everything on the plane if they need to disembark

If they need to disembark, you need to take everything from the plane and clear security again I presume.
