Middle East Airspace Diversions/Cancellations

There's a war between Pakistan and Afghanistan currently...
And? What is the significance of this statement? Plenty of traffic over both Afghanistan and Pakistan. Including now QF1.

You seem to be posting some unhelpful comments this morning. I understand you may be concerned about your return travel from Ireland via DOH, but stating you think missiles should hit US bases in the Gulf and that Army aviation personnel deliberately allowed a bushfire to expand, are wrong. I suggest you should edit those posts.

As above it’s a matter of altitude, unlikely that war will have any threats to aircraft at cruise altitude.
MH17.

Unlikely, but has precedent.

With hostilities breaking out, and the military hardware left behind by the US on withdrawal from Afghanistan, it could present a risk.

So, my daughter’s due to fly to London this afternoon Virgin/Qatar via Doha. They are offering to rebook tomorrow, what’s the popular opinion on that vs just cancelling and trying to find an alternative route? Prices look to have doubled.
Quite a few award seats from SYD-LHR via USA with UA/QF/AA today and tomorrow ...

Look at routes via USA, or over the pole options via Japan/Korea

My flat-earther wife is driving me crazy right now, insisting that because she can draw a straight line on google maps that Turkish Airlines IST-MNL normally flies directly over Iran. Can anyone help me out please? No, I don't want to divorce again. Flight Routes seem to indicate it flies over Armenia, Uzbekistan & China en route to MNL. Hmmm, maybe I should just leave it and agree with here

Report in Al Jazeera just now of attack (?) on AUH

Abu Dhabi Airports says one dead in ‘incident’ at Zayed International Airport

The airports agency has said the incident at Zayed International Airport “resulted in one death of an Asian national and seven injuries”.

It did not provide further details.

It further urged the public “not to circulate rumors and false information”.

No need, the route from SIN is still open, both north (Caspian sea) and south (Egypt). BA, QF and SQ flights are getting through just fine.

Still a little too close for my liking especailly if there were an issue with no safe place to divert.

If I needed to be in UK/EU (or come home from there) in near future would fly via US or SCL, a little longer but goes no where near the ME or Russia.

It appears that QF8765 and QF8766 are operating despite closure of DXB. It appears they might terminate at Wolli Creek for the next few days.
All DXB services are not operating today.
I hope all passengers are redirected onto China Eastern and China Southern if they are going to Europe.
