Date: 1 Oct 2018
Context: Last minute J ticket purchased 8 hrs prior to departure (urgent flight)
Cost: very very painful
Seat: 7H only seat left on aircraft
Flight: MH140 SYD-KUL A330. 2210-0500
J Config: 1-2-1 and 1-2-2 config
My row had the 1-2-2
Status: One World Emerald requalified till anniversary.
Checkin: web, then picked BP at counter. No checked luggage.
Lounge: QF FLounge even though BP has emerald and invitation to J not FLounge
Boarding process: J/Y separate lines and painless. Boarding commenced 2110. I left the lounge at 2125. Walked 5 min.
Takeoff: Early by 10min
Arrival : early by 15min
Dinner: 3 Satay sticks . That’s it!!.
Until I re-read the menu and realised that the rest was an on request only anytime menu. So asked for beef pie and fruit.
Drinks: Taittinger Comtes de C 2007
Breakfast: they turned the cabin lights on at 0200hrs destination time = 3 hrs prior to arrival!!! . Fed the chooks and turned the lights off again at 0300!!
Yoghurt, fruit, Nadi Lemak (not really authentic as the Rendang that came with it was not Crispy. (Masterchef UK said rendang should be crispy
)
Seat: Hard and narrow for J. Feet Tunnel a bit tight especially for side sleepers - at the knees. Tunnel light is called “mood lighting”. Seat doesn’t go fully flat - the head bit sits a little higher which is OK.
Prefer the Skybed II as a comparison. My seat was not a “throne” seat. I don’t think it really makes a different.
Me: 185cm. 100kg
IFE: no easy way to turn screen off. Pressed “I” button on remote several times. Movies OK. Can watch movie from takeoff to gate. Watch out your eardrums could be perforated by the super loud announcements through the headphones.
A350-900 tonight
Seat 1D
(16.75 hrs ground time in KUL)
KUL has priority immigration for foreigners in J/F and also Smart Gates for foreigners.
