I have put in a request for an enrich redemption upgrade from economy to business on an upcoming trip (start of May) which has been put on a waitlist. Does anyone know how long MH take to review their waitlists? I have called them a few times but the call centre staff have no idea and just suggest to call back.

There are plenty of seats still available for purchase in the J cabin and I have been sent the bid for an upgrade email twice already so would have thought they would action a waitlist request quickly.

If you are referring to MHUpgrade, you will only know whether you are upgraded or not 48hours b4 ur flight.

I thought it would help others in the future if I updated what actually happened on this waitlist experience when upgrading using miles. I had many calls to Enrich to try and get unwaitlisted and all the operators gave different advice including:
- try calling back in two weeks
- try calling back two weeks before the flight
- call back the day before the flight
- then the day before the flight, call back in two hours time and they would chase the flight control department. They could see available seats still for sale.

I was travelling on an MH flight from Beijing to KL before the one I wanted to upgrade to BNE, they advised me not to check into the second flight in case the waitlist cleared. But they suggested again that I call back before taking off in Beijing.....

As it happened I got to KL and was still on waitlist but they cleared it and did the upgrade process at the transfer desk. The plus side to all of this was that Enrich revised the number of miles required for certain sectors and it cost me a few less.

Singapore airlines upgrades do seem far simpler to obtain and you still earn miles on the original ticket which MAS didn't do as the ticket class changes to a non earning one.
I hope this can save someone else lots of wasted phone calls one day!
