Haven't been on the MH site for a while. Is there ANY point in even looking for J redemptions to Europe?
I had a quick look but can find nothing for less than 406,000 return. Am I doing something wrong?

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

This post can act as the reference for anyone else asking the same question in the future.

1) Enrich Miles used on Malaysia Airlines is dynamic pricing.

2) The cost in miles is NOT static [ie: There is no easy way to calculate how many miles are required. It is NOT based on the price of the ticket, but, rather, a ratio is applied depending on the O&D, fare class, etc.] At least, that is how it appears from doing multiple searches.

3) Enrich redemptions are booked into revenue fare classes. They do not earn miles/elite miles into Enrich, however, they DO earn [so long as you're booked into an eligible fare class] into other loyalty programs [eg: Qantas].

4) If you're searching for SYD-LHR using Enrich and it's 406,000 [as above], the next step is to look at award availability on Singapore Airlines, Cathay, Qantas, Thai, etc. If there is NO availability on the dates you want on OTHER programs/airlines - and Enrich is showing 406,000, then that 406,000 represents good value considering that THERE ARE NO OTHER POSSIBLE SEATS ON OTHER AIRLINES.

5) Enrich redemptions on MH sit somewhere between the value of traditional award seats, and that of a cash+miles with most airlines. The value is there, at the right time, for the right people. If you play with the cash+miles slider, the value seems to translate between AUD $0.012 and $0.016 per mile. That represents approx 80% more value than the Qantas points+pay value [ie: You get more bang for your buck using Enrich Miles towards a MH flight, than you would QF points towards a QF flight when using the points/miles + pay feature of both airlines]. For example, based on point (4) above - you would be better off using points+pay on Malaysia/Enrich, rather than Qantas.

6) Availability [ie: the flights you can use Enrich Miles to redeem for], appears to be almost every fare class except the super deep discount economy fares.

7) Enrich Miles cannot be used to book into X/U/P on Malaysia Airlines. These fare classes are used for partner airlines. [If there is X/U/P available - you are much better booking that seat using partner airline points - ie: Qantas]

8) If there is a sale on - the Miles cost to redeem will also reduce. I've seen low as 60,000 Miles return SYD-KUL-SYD in biz class. That is 50% cheaper than Qantas, and A LOT more seats available as they're booking into revenue fare classes. AND - you could EARN Qantas points on that fare too.

9) If you're looking to game the system or find hidden cheap redemption opportunities, Enrich is not the program for you.

10) The program is designed for folks living in Malaysia, with Malaysian issued credit cards.

11) If you want to fly with Malaysia Airlines using miles/points and the above doesn't work for you - my suggestion is to burn Qantas Points, Avios, or American Airlines Miles.

Great summary, Trippin.
Thank you for your effort

Ah, the days when Sydney - London in J on an A380 could be redeemed for 50,000 Enrich miles. Never again.
