MH or QF points dilemma

Have the following options available for the same flights (LHR-KUL-PER), all in J

- Convert 82k Altitude points, to get the required 51k MH points, and spend 455GBP

OR

- Use 171k QFF points (I have around 600k in total), and spend $1011

Am torn between using the QFF points - good to burn them given uncertainty around future direction of the QFF program, whilst saving the Altitude points for future conversion to SQ/MH, versus using the Altitude points now (given it's a much lower point requirement), and keeping hold of the QFF points.

Value any input from the pros on AFF.

Cheers

Have you looked at not leaving LHR, IE CDG-KUL? Save a lot of cash.

Thanks for the suggestion. I am currently booked on a flight from JFK-LHR (overnight) with BA - and the plan was then to jump on the MH flight.

Unless leaving JFK and heading to CDG is an option with OW airlines?

At least two AA flights, or route via LHR to CDG on that ticket, still avoids APD.

?? AA fly non-stop JFK-CDG and the other non stop to Paris is on BA affiliate Open Skies, but it goes to ORY not CDG.

Not sure what the ?? Refers to, I was pointing out that depending on the day I can find at least two flights JFH-CDG direct with AA, for instance on Thursdays AA44 and AA120

Sorry misread the "at least two AA flights" meaning you have to take at least two AA flights to get there ..... consider the ??? gone.

No worries, I could have been clearer!

Many thanks for the CDG suggestion. This led to some further thinking and, after another call to QFF, a change to a RTW itinerary- burning more with QFF but less overall. And all on the one booking now.

This wouldn't have been considered without the suggestion - so thank you very much!
